Mika Shares Clip of Joe Scarborough Hanging Mueller Portrait in Their Home

“Oooh. This is embarrassing already.”

“Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski shared Tuesday evening a video of her husband and co-host Joe Scarborough hanging a portrait of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller in the couple’s home.

The 18-second-long clip comes following the release of a letter in which Mueller expressed misgivings about Attorney General William’s four-page letter summarizing the findings of the Russia investigation. Barr has repeatedly declared that the Mueller report found President Donald Trump did not collude with the Russian government.

Brzezinski and Scarborough are known for frequently criticizing Trump during their early morning program.

Some commenters on Twitter imputed an anti-Trump meaning to the hanging of the portrait, insinuating that – like many of the president’s critics – the duo was holding out hope that Mueller or his investigation would somehow end up taking down Trump.

But for many commenters, Mueller was the last person the “Morning Joe” co-hosts should have been holding up as an anti-Trump paragon.

“Honoring the man that found no collusion,” quipped one commenter.

“OMG – I wonder how fast he took it down after Barr report!” wrote one Twitter user.

“The officials said Mueller did not describe Barr’s letter as inaccurate but that he thought it was resulting in misleading news coverage about the report,” wrote another commenter, citing reports that revealed Mueller conceded Barr’s conclusions were not inaccurate.

Some liberals’ admiration for Mueller has spilled over into outright sycophancy and – in light of the Russia investigation’s failure to nail Trump for collusion – confusion.

A March feature in The New York Times chronicled the reckoning facing liberals who pedestalized Mueller as anti-Trump savior and champion of the republic. The Times spoke to one woman who had Mueller’s silhouette tattooed on her arm. The host of a podcast for Russia-obsessed “Muellerites” said the community was in a collective state of shock after the Mueller report cleared Trump and his associates of conspiring with the Kremlin to influence the 2016 presidential election.

“I’ve had to talk a couple people off the ledge,” she revealed.

It hasn’t been easy for liberals and activists who held Mueller up as the fulfillment of their anti-Trump fever dreams. “It is definitely embarrassing,” a 45-year-old Mueller aficionado told The Times. “It’s a drag knowing there are people out there who are gloating.”

A woman who runs a pro-Mueller Facebook page, which says “All hail Robert Mueller — through his work we shall be delivered from this ignorance and evil we suffer” in its “About” description, told The Times that she was “very disappointed” about the Mueller report findings.

Also in March, a Boston-based liberal who had Mueller’s face tattooed on his back denied he regretted getting the body art.
