Moore to the Point – Seeing Red – Opinion

Note: This “Moore to the Point” commentary aired on NewsTalkSTL on Wednesday, August 10th. You can hear the audio below.

If you’re like most folks who are right of center – and even those who aren’t, but who value the rule of law and equal justice under it – the raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound on Monday likely has you seeing red.

There’s no question the former president is a lightning rod, leaving very few people agnostic in their sentiments regarding him. But this isn’t – or shouldn’t be – about him personally. There’s a much bigger picture here.

It’s true – no one is above the law, not even a former (and possibly future) president. But that means then, that neither the current President (or his miscreant son), nor a prior presidential candidate, nor the Attorney General, nor the DOJ, FBI, or any agency – or swamp critter – within the Intelligence Community are above the law either. They MustThey must obey the law, not use their office to exert power over political opponents. These are the other things. WeThey must be held accountable for any failures.

If there’s legal justification for what they’ve done, let’s see it. If there are criminal consequences, and laws have been violated, so be it. (Color me skeptical, but I’m willing to entertain the notion.)

But if there’s not? There will rightly be hell to pay, and it’s the Democrats who’ll be seeing red come November.
