As RedState reported on Wednesday, in a sudden reversal, Sen. Joe Manchin has reached a deal with Sen. Chuck Schumer on a massive reconciliation bill that provides hundreds of billions of dollars for “climate change” provisions. This bill includes tax increases for corporations.
The move comes as US consumers are battling crushing levels of inflation, with June’s number coming in at 9.1 percent. Manchin previously indicated that he wouldn’t sign on to a huge spending bill until inflation is under control. However, Manchin broke his word and will most likely increase prices due to the fact that more taxes and spending are being passed on to consumers.
Were we really meant to get there? It’s quite clear that Sen. Mitch McConnell played completely.
Absolute scumbag move. Manchin was patient until the CHIPS were moved by Rs, then he reversed his course when they got there.
It should serve as a reminder to every R that Dems do not have the same values. https://t.co/IMagnbiXFF

McConnell was previously assured by Manchin that no massive reconciliation bill would be brought to the table. The GOP’s minority leader used the CHIPS Act (which Manchin supports) to block the passage billions in green boondoggles.
McConnell trusted Manchin for reasons that are not known and delivered the votes to the CHIPS Act. Manchin ran to Schumer and attacked McConnell, nuking any leverage.
McConnell has the W, when it comes the Supreme Court. But the GOP needs to get fed up with him spewing in their faces about issue after issue as he shouts “but Supreme Court tho!”

McConnell and his defenders have long cited his Supreme Court maneuvering as proof that he is a master strategist who simply can’t be replaced by someone more conservative. And yes, he deserves massive credit for holding up Merrick Garland’s nomination in order to get Neil Gorsuch on the court (Kavanaugh and Barrett were much more straightforward as far as the procedures go). But, how many times does he ride the wave? He gets to stop spending money on Democrats so many times. Oder worse, is he excused from signing on to them?
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the Cocaine Mitch memes as much as the next guy, but to get played by Manchin on such a big issue feels like a bridge too far. The Kentucky senator has not delivered on any substantive conservative victories, other than the judiciary which is his job. It is not a complete list.
What’s also frustrating about this is that Republicans have routinely provided cover for Manchin by allowing him to play the role of a pragmatic moderate. He has been able to avoid the lunacy and tyranny of the Democrat Party by being offered deals and given a counterfrom the right.
This must stop immediately. Manchin needs to be taken into custody and forced to take on every absurdity that his leftwing coworkers push for him. He should not be allowed to claim he’s moderate so that he can return home to West Virginia. If Democrats are going to spend $2 Trillion on green initiatives, they should make him reject his party and refuse to work with them. Machin is a Democrat. He should be a Democrat.
The West Virginia voter should be satisfied. Manchin must tell West Virginians how many times he has to reveal who he is before they will be able to believe him. Vote this guy out in 2024 if he’s dumb enough to run again.
