Mask Mandates Have Convinced Me That the Oath Keepers Have a Solid Point To Make About ‘Back the Blue’ – Opinion

It seems like a daily occurrence that there is a new video showing the harsh and brutal anti-Wuhan measures being taken in Australia and Europe by police to enforce these measures by countries who were once able to pretend respect for human rights.

We laugh at this stuff here because we don’t have a national police force, and, in most places, our police forces are very much in tune with the communities they serve and try to use some commonsense. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case.

Bill de Blasio is the New York City Mayor. jefeThe Big Apple is over, and he’s now imposing vaccine and mask requirements on New York City businesses. Surprisingly, even though the mayor is a loathsome of the NYPD and has been lame, the NYPD has taken swift action.

Here are several arrests of unmasked patrons at an Applebee’s in Queens.

The incident occurred in Queens, at the Cheesecake Factory.

You have to wonder if New York City’s real crime has disappeared. As our friends from PJ Media said:

New York Police Department (NYPD), showed up to transport the rebellious diners into New York. Patty multi-national wagon.

New York police officers are asked to think of other topics. Well, maybe…

In case de Blasio hasn’t heard, his policies, as well as those of former Governor Cuomo, have left NYC in the gutter. It is increasing. New Yorkers, mostly black New Yorkers, are being killed in record numbers. De Blasio doesn’t care; it’s those rascally anti-vaxxers who need to go to jail.

De Blasio is easily blamed for being the fascist douchewad he is. However, NYPD officers did decide to respond to these calls, and they decided it was a good idea to arrest people who don’t wear masks.

Too often we, on the left, reflexively support police. It isn’t because of left-leaning politics that have made hate of police an integral part of their political platform since the mid-1960s. We understand their difficult job of maintaining order, and the importance of their role in civil society preservation. Unfortunately, the Black Lives Matter riots and “defund the police” campaigns have led some to make a fetish of supporting the police. The “Back the Blue” movement strikes me as more of a way to “own the libs” than a policy position. These polar opposite instincts, however, have failed to recognize the real need for reform in police. Smartphone cameras have shown that far too many police officers feel they are capable of using deadly and physical force. Police officers often have to look after their siblings when they break the rules.

The videos in this video show that not all police are on the side for freedom and commonsense. There will always be enough police officers to execute any directive given by someone in power. So if you think NYPD officers won’t club you senseless for not wearing a mask on the sidewalk, I think you are mistaken.

About the time of the Tea Party movement, I wrote a post highly critical of the “Oath Keepers” movement within the Armed Forces and law enforcement. It was a concept that OathKeepers were able to keep their members within certain boundaries. Here is a list of the orders that they promised not to follow, taken from their website.

1. We won’t obey any order to arm the American people.

2. We will NOT obey any order to conduct warrantless searches of the American people, their homes, vehicles, papers, or effects – such as warrantless house-to house searches for weapons or persons.

3. We will NOT obey any order to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to trial by military tribunal.

4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state, or to enter with force into a state, without the express consent and invitation of that state’s legislature and governor.

5. We will not obey orders to invade or subjugate any nation that asserts sovereignty or declares the National Government to be violating the Compact by which they joined the Union.

6. We are not going to obey any blockade order in American cities. This would make them huge concentration camps.

7. We won’t obey any order that would force American citizens to detention camps, under any pretense.

8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control” during any emergency, or under any other pretext. Such use of foreign troops against the people of our country will be considered an invasion and an act war.

9. We won’t obey any order to take the American property, food, and other necessities, without any exception.

10. We will not obey any order that violates the rights to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly, or to petition our government for grievances.

Although my post is not available online, I believe that it was still valid. However, at the time, my opinion was that there were no societies that could afford to allow armed men roaming the countryside, setting their own rules about when and how they should carry out their duties. The secondary point was that the Oath Keeper “will not” list was all fever dream stuff that could never happen here. Now I admit that I had been unrealistically optimistic about the possibilities in America. Although I hold the original opinion that men carrying guns must follow orders is still valid, my view has changed. We can trust our police and military to follow orders. By lawful, I don’t necessarily mean just “legal” but also orders that fall within our constitutional and republican traditions. By sane, I mean orders that wouldn’t strike the average person as batsh** crazy.

I don’t care how many “lawful” orders are issued about social distancing; there is no circumstance where police are permitted to enter a private residence to enforce this kind of a bullsh** ordinance. Here, again, are New York’s finest in action.

Police cannot stop a funeral procession because of an outdoor ordinance.

Normal people don’t arrest a mother with her daughter for trespassing no matter how many “lockdown” orders have been flung bout.

My belief was that politicians and other senior officers would be reluctant to order crap that is unconstitutional or makes them look stupid. I was obviously wrong. It had never occurred to me that police officers would obey orders that required them to pepper spray mourners or give a beat-down to someone without a mask or go to someone’s home to demand to know how many people were inside. It is the same kind of fascist nonsense that we used to expect from Australia or the Soviet Bloc in the past 18 months.

Instead of supporting officers impulsively, we should be more critical. It is important to understand the context. It is important to think of other options for dealing with the situation. It is important to let people know that we are not always there for them. You can’t enforce mindless laws and expect us to come to your defense in your hour of need. You can’t harass people on the street and in restaurants of over some chickensh** mask or vax mandate and expect us to do anything more than take video if you are getting your ass kicked. You can’t carry out the rules of a fascist government at any level and expect anyone to care when that government turns on you.
