Liz Cheney Was Not the Only One Defeated Yesterday – Opinion

Wyomingites have spoken and Rep. Liz Cheney (R) will be soon in Wyoming Former Rep. Liz Cheney. Harriet Hageman her challenge, defeated Cheney by 35 points.

Cheney seemed to anticipate her defeat and gave a concession speech where she made a comparison to Abraham Lincoln. She also demonstrated why she lost. Democrats and other anti-Trumpers were able to have the expected meltdown via social media, lamenting their favourite warrior’s death.

It is easy to be focused on Cheney leaving for the hills but it is equally important to consider the importance of what has happened over the past 2 years. This year’s primary is an indicator of the changes in the Republican Party, and conservative movements that have been mired in civil war for six years.

When former President Donald Trump was nominated in the 2016 presidential election, it sparked a bitter feud between the Republican establishment old guard and the new “America First” movement, which sought to reshape the party. At this moment, people realized that Bush/Cheney/Romney’s days were over.

Now, we are seeing another significant step toward the culmination of this conflict, and all indications suggest that the new breed of conservatives is swiftly gaining prominence while the old guard is receding worse than former Vice President Dick Cheney’s hairline. Yet another discrediting of the neocon Establishment is Liz Cheney’s removal. As Scott Presler, a Republican activist, pointed out, people who voted to impeach Trump’s America First agenda are now reaping the rewards.

The activist claims that the group is looking to eliminate more of the establishment’s members in the near future.

Although the progressivism chattering class may whine, the transformation was long overdue. As I’m often fond of saying, the Republican Party needs an enema, and this is what we are seeing at the moment. It’s been far too long that the ineffectual, weak, and inept GOP establishment has been in control, with little to show it.

Also, it is important to warn that conservatives must be cautious about who they vote in local, state and federal elections. It is showing the establishment that it will not accept them, but it should also ensure they replace the older guard with those who can actually make a difference. Candidates who are only social media-savvy than those before us must be avoided.

The Democratic Party is rapidly shifting harder to the left – we cannot afford to have Republicans in office who are willing to give in to them. More than any political show, we need conservatives who work hard to implement policy. We will see a repetition of the events that occurred when both the White House and the Congress were controlled by the GOP a few short years back.

This shift has been a good one. This shift suggests that the right will see more individuals in power who are prepared to stand up for their constituents. The GOP has people who don’t mind the deceitful attacks and hyperbolic statements of the Democrats. There are still many who need to be given the boot – but it appears we are off to a good start.
