Liz Cheney isn’t even trying anymore. That’s the conclusion I’ve come to over the last year watching her suck up to Nancy Pelosi, throwing all principle to the wind in order to push a rabid January 6th narrative that doesn’t match the evidence.
Cheney was at a place where she could have stated her opinion, including opposing Donald Trump. However, this would not have completely destroyed her credibility. Yet, perhaps sensing that things aren’t likely to go well for her next year in Wyoming, she has gone fully embraced the CNN lifestyle. Take this example. Taken at Ted Cruz this absurd shot.

There are several parts to this, but let’s start with the fact that Cruz is right. For Liz Cheney and anyone else like her, there is no Republican path in the 2024 Republican primaries. If she wants a shot at the presidency, and it appears she does, she’ll have to do it as a moderate Democrat, trying to capitalize on the newfound respect she’s gained from the left. Cruz speaking truthfully is a good thing in this sense.
Second, Cruz, according to my last check, is a Republican Party member and in far greater standing than Cheney. That makes the shot about “my party” nonsensical on its face. While there are disagreements, Cheney is not the only one who knows what it means to call yourself a Republican. This is evident when she holds press conferences alongside Democrats and obsesses on January 6th, while neglecting real Americans.
Last but not least, she is dishonest trash. Cruz is vocally opposed to the notion of secession, despite some right-leaning politicians mentioning the possibility of the country splitting. In fact, just a few weeks ago, he was asked about the topic while doing an event on the campus of Texas A&M. He stated clearly that he disagreed with the call for secession, and advocated continuing efforts to unify America.
Yet, Cheney didn’t even bother to check her facts because she is a boring, lazy politician at this point. Cheney has become content to dish out CNN talking points to people she claims to be her colleagues in order to make her next career move. She may be a smuggler, but we remember the terrible decisions she made and the lives of thousands (and many thousands) of Americans who were killed by her arrogance. She isn’t principled. She’s an opportunist.
