Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney is facing a problem. This is the problem. Donald Trump To suggest Cheney doesn’t like Trump and Trump doesn’t like Cheney would be an understatement.
Not that she appears to try, but Cheney appears incapable of letting go of her obsession with all things Trump, choosing instead to remain fixated on her Trump-loathing rearview mirror —to her own detriment.
During a speech at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire on Tuesday, Cheney again went after Trump and his supporters over circumstances surrounding the Capitol riot and Trump’s rejection of the 2020 election results, calling the former president a “domestic threat” who continues to work against the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law, as reported by The Blaze.
“At this moment when it matters most, we are also confronting a domestic threat that we’ve never faced before: a former president who’s attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional Republic, aided by political leaders who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man.”
“Attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional Republic.” Serious charge. Here’s the proof Cheney presented to back up that charge:

Cheney said that Trump is still at war against the U.S. Constitution.
“Political leaders who sit silent in the face of these false and dangerous claims are aiding a former president who is at war with the rule of law and the Constitution.
“When our constitutional order is threatened as it is now, rising above partisanship is not simply an aspiration it is an obligation, an obligation of every one of us.”
As noted by The Blaze, Cheney was one of 10 House Republicans who joined with Nancy Pelosi’s House Democrats on January 13, 2021, on the vote to impeach Trump on charges that he incited the so-called insurrection, and again, Trump’s continued rejection of the election results.
Cheney then attacked Trump’s policies, which she called “bad for the country.” One wonders what Liz Cheney thinks about Trump’s “bad” policies as contrasted with the multiple self-created crises of Joe Biden.
“His policies are bad for this country. I believe deeply that conservative principles, limited government, low taxes, a strong national defense, the family as the essential building block of our nation, and our society; those are the right ideals for this country.”
“I love my party,” Cheney said, adding: “I love its history, I love its principles. But I love my country More,” she emphasized, as if loving one’s principles and loving one’s country moreBoth are mutually exclusive. They are not; Ms. Cheney’s reference was made solely for the purpose of political expediency.
Liz Cheney’s Monday speech was simply the latest installment of the intraparty spat. Cheney vs. Trump, Trump vs. Cheney, Cheney vs. MAGA, MAGA vs. Cheney — Take your pick; the feud was joined in earnest Before Cheney voted to impeach Trump, in Pelosi’s second impeachment stunt on January 13, 2021.
As The Washington Post reported at the time, the roots of Cheney’s decision to impeach Trump began with her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, who on Jan. 6 was watching events unfold on television and called to warn her that Trump was “attacking” her, specifically.
Prior to her dad’s call, Trump had just singled out Cheney for urging Republicans to reject his efforts and those of other Republicans to push a challenge of the electoral college results, as recounted by WaPo.
“We got to get rid of the weak congresspeople, the ones that aren’t any good, the Liz Cheneys of the world.”
Trump’s speech was over. He told his supporters, “
“We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators, and congressmen and women.
“We’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them because you’ll never take back our country with weakness.
“You have to show strength, and you have to be strong.”

Trump, of course, returns fire at Cheney at every opportunity and has also backed a 2022 primary challenger against Cheney for Wyoming’s only Congressional seat. Trump made the following statement in a statement dated July 21, 2021:
Watching closely the Wyoming House Primary against Liz Cheney, a RINO. Some highly respected pollsters tell me she’s toast in Wyoming after siding with Crazy Nancy Pelosi and supporting the Democrat Impeachment Hoax. And that’s just the beginning!
This is a “hot” race with some very interesting candidates running against her. But, we only need one candidate running against Cheney.
