This evening, it’s a special Thursday edition of primary election results. The Tennessee House and the gubernatorial primaries are at issue.
Here’s a preview, compliments of DDHQ:
Tennessee covers both Eastern and Central time zones. Therefore, polls close on the Eastern side at 8:00 PM Eastern and 7:00 Central. Each race has nine Congressional districts/Houses and is decided by the first-past–the-post winner.
The Fifth District is a key race, and thanks to redistricting, it now heavily leans GOP. As we’ve covered here at RedState, two of the more well-known candidates were kicked off the ballot: Morgan Ortagus and Robby Starbuck. The top three remaining contenders include Beth Harwell, former Speaker of the Tennessee House and Andy Ogles, currently Mayor of Maury Co. Kurt Winstead is a retired member of the TN National Guardsman.
There is not much to look forward to in the race for the governorship, since incumbent Governor Bill Lee (a Republican) is on the GOP ballot. JB Smiley and Jason Martin are the Democratic candidates.
For live results, see below. RedState will continue to provide coverage of the election throughout Friday night. (Click the “Change Race” option at the upper right of each map to toggle between the races.)
