There isn’t much that progressives are good for. Their forte has always been virtue signaling and absurd take on the news. Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon weighed in on the Supreme Court’s recent ruling overturning Roe v. WadeThis was not at all what you’d expect.
Gascon, a pro-abortion activist in the midst of a national meltdown posted a tweet thread dissing the Supreme Court. He speculated that it would reverse decisions on birth control and same-sex marital relations. Gascon wrote:
America is witnessing a very sad moment. The Supreme Court told half of America that the court has no rights to bodily autonomy. One Justice said loudly that the Supreme Court should consider granting more rights to people, such as the ability for everyone to choose who they love or marry.

Later in the thread, Gascon promised to make sure that women in California “have absolute autonomy over your body, your health, and your safety” and vowed to “never prosecute a woman for making private, medical choices about her own body.”
I wonder if this applies to women who don’t want to get vaccinated?
But I digress.
Gascon was engaging in the same type of fearmongering that the rest of his comrades were pushing after the court’s draft opinion on the case was leaked. These men claimed that conservatives were seeking to reverse court decisions regarding interracial and same-sex marriages.
To be fair, Justice Clarence Thomas, in a concurring opinion, wrote that the Supreme Court should “reconsider” rulings related to contraceptives, same-sex relationships, and same-sex marriage. “… in future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell. Because any substantive due process decision is ‘demonstrably erroneous,’ … we have a duty to ‘correct the error’ established in those precedents…,” he wrote.
As I have already explained, there are no grounds for fear that the rulings would be overturned. Despite Thomas’ argument, there isn’t the political will in this country to overturn decisions regarding same-sex relationships and marriage. According to polling, even conservatives may not be as enthusiastic about that fight no matter what their beliefs are about it.
However, abortion is quite a different story. Since Roe v. WadeSince 1973 when the Supreme Court ruled in favor of life, pro-lifers and others have been trying to change it. Pro-lifers have held annual Marches for Life throughout the country in support of the rights and well-being of unborn babies. States are implementing all possible anti-abortion laws without violating human rights. Roe. Contraception and same-sex marriage are not covered by this rule. These issues don’t matter as much as abortion.
Nevertheless, folks like Gascon will still seek to foment fear and anger over the Supreme Court’s ruling as if the threat of political violence in response isn’t already enough.
