North Dakota Governor. Kristi Noem mocked President Joe Biden’s foreign policy mistakes during her Friday speech at CPAC. She discussed a variety of issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic, special counsel John Durham’s recent bombshell revelations about the 2016 Clinton campaign, and the Democrats’ many failures over last year.
But it was her comments about Biden’s handling of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine that elicited the most fervent response. In her opening speech, she acknowledged the pain of those in Ukraine being attacked by Russia. “The hell of war has come to their country,” Noem said. “And we ever needed a reminder that leadership has consequences, that it matters.”
The governor then pivoted to the president, noting that “the last 48 hours has shown us what happens when America projects weakness” and asserted, “that is exactly what President Biden has done.”
Noem said “a strong president would put their citizens first,” and listed off a series of steps a “strong president” would take to deal with the crisis domestically:
“Number one, they’d start and expedite the Keystone XL pipeline. They’d reopen our federal lands for drilling and oil and natural gas exploration. They’d revoke the bans on oil and gas leases on the outer continental shelf. They would sign an executive order that cut all the regulations of domestic energy production and its transport to American and European markets.”
The governor continued, explaining how a “strong American president” would handle the issue internationally:
“A strong American President would work with European allies and partners to replace their supply of Russian oil supplies with American energy. They would then impose severe sanctions against the Russian energy sector to hit Putin where it hurts. They’d lead NATO and other Western allies to cut Russia off from the Western economy, banking, financial systems, including SWIFT.”
Noem then declared that “if Joe Biden can’t or he won’t do these things, then he should resign. He should resign before his weak leadership and poor decision-making drag America back into another dangerous war.”
Many speakers addressed the CPAC 2022 crowd focusing on Russia and Ukraine. Noem’s words seem to reflect how many Americans view the White House’s approach to the situation.
According to a Fox News poll, 56 percent believe that the President hasn’t been hard enough on Russia. Around 29 percent believe he’s handling this issue properly.
Another Fox poll revealed that the president’s rating on foreign policy is at a dismal 38 percent approval and 58 percent disapproval. Interestingly, his approval of this topic is much higher than that for immigration, crime, or the economy.
If Noem’s comments on President Biden’s performance during the Russia/Ukraine crisis are any indication, America just received another reason to vote against Democrats in 2022 and 2024.
