New York Rangers have one of the most passionate fan bases of any NHL team, and it’s no surprise then that the governor also received some jeers.
Kathy Hochul (Democratic governor) arrived at Madison Square Garden in time for the ceremonial puck-drop between the Anaheim Ducks & Rangers. As she made her way onto the ice, Ranger fans hurled thunderous boos at her instead of applause.
Hochul was a staunch champion of mask mandates, even issuing statewide protocols to “protect” New Yorkers from getting the Omicron variant (which was not as dangerous as everyone made it seem). Although the mandates were ultimately canceled, these supporters did not forget how difficult it was for them.
