The absolute worst progressives of color are white. But the black progressives who tap-dance for them aren’t any better. This is the perfect example of this truth.
MSNBC’s Joy Reid recently donned her well-worn pair of tap-dancing shoes on Friday when she took Tesla CEO Elon Musk to task for supposedly “misappropriated black vernacular” after he referred to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), as a “Karen.”
Sen. Karen AKA Fauxcahontas took aim earlier this week at the CEO and deceitfully claimed he didn’t pay taxes. This is what she wrote:
Let’s change the rigged tax code so [Musk]Will actually pay taxes.
Let’s change the rigged tax code so The Person of the Year will actually pay taxes and stop freeloading off everyone else. https://t.co/jqQxL9Run6

Musk, in his trademark fashion, clapped back at lawmaker.
You remind me of when I was a kid and my friend’s angry Mom would just randomly yell at everyone for no reason. Please don’t call the manager on me, Senator Karen.
If you paused for just 2 seconds you’d see that I have paid more taxes this year than any American ever.

Musk continued tweeting, pointing out that he “will pay more taxes than any American in history this year.”

Shortly after, Reid invited Sen. Karen to her show and mocked Musk for using the term. It was apparently a misappropriation or black vernacular. In a tap-dancing performance worthy of the late, great Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, Reid valiantly defended her precious white progressive ally against Musk’s sexist attack.
She stated:
“Elon wasn’t happy, so he did what he always did, and stomped his little feet and insulted Senator Warren. So, for so many reasons, being a freeloader and a selfish and disrespectful one, and for misappropriating black vernacular for misogynistic purposes, Elon Musk is the absolute worst.”
According to Urban Dictionary, the term “Karen” describes:
Middle aged woman, typically blonde, makes solutions to others’ problems an inconvenience to her although she isn’t even remotely affected.
It also says it is “[u]sually the name of a mother with 3 kids who has a short hairstyle and would like to speak to the manager.”
It is typically used to describe a woman who is entitled and superior – especially those who have a penchant for calling the police on black men for no valid reason. Of course, what progressives won’t tell you is that the majority of incidents involving Karenous behavior take place in blue cities.
Here’s the thing: The term “Karen” has been used by people of every ethnicity without it being a problem. She is being completely duplicitous in this situation because she knows good and well that if Musk had used the term against someone like Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), she wouldn’t bat an eye. She would even perform another tap dancing routine for Tesla CEO.
However, this incident is indicative of an even bigger truth: Joy Reid and other prominent black progressives don’t live in the same place as every day black Americans. Folks like her constantly lament issues like “cultural appropriation” and “microaggressions,” while normal black folks are concerned with normal American issues.
In a Washington Post/Ipsos poll conducted during last year’s election season, black Americans indicated their top five concerns were the economy (86%), health care (89%), COVID-19 (83%), racism (92%), and police brutality (93%).
To be clear, when black Americans cite racism as an issue, I can guarantee you they’re not thinking about Elon Musk calling someone a “Karen.” They are talking about racial issues they believe might actually impact their lives such as the criminal justice system and others.
In short, your average black person isn’t waking up in the morning worrying about a white person calling another white person a “Karen.” They are concerned about putting food on the table and keeping their families secure and safe.
This is why many black voters do not consider themselves to be liberals. According to Pew Research, 81 percent of black Americans identify as “moderate” or “conservative.” It is the reason black voters supported President Joe Biden over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in the 2020 election.
This is not surprising given how out-of-touch the progressive movement seems when it comes the black community, and Americans as a whole. If they keep going on like this, the Marxist crowd will never truly win over black Americans – which is a good thing. Joy Reid, keep dancing and taping,
