The first cases arising from January 6th riot at US Capitol were finally settled last week. This proved to the rest of the world that it is a case of partisan scalp-taking and not justice. One defendant, who was in the US Capitol less than ten mins, received a two week sentence from Tanya Chutkan (Democrat apparatchik). Chutkan LARPs as a federal judge. The 45-day sentence was 50% more than the abuse sentence that the prosecution requested for two other defendants who were in the Capitol for less then a half hour. Chutkan, you’ll recall, was so profoundly conflicted that the US Court for the District of Columbia removed her from handling the legal case between Devin Nunes’ House Intelligence Committee in their fight to make FusionGPS comply with Congressional subpoenas on the Russia Hoax after she did not voluntarily recuse herself (see BREAKING. Fusion GPS Judge has been Booted
The events are so out of American legal tradition, that Attorney General Merrick Grland has raised grave concerns.
Attorney General Merrick Garland has told other Justice Department officials he is concerned that jailing rioters who weren’t hard-core extremists for extensive periods could further radicalize them, according to people familiar with the matter, a concern he has expressed more broadly about defendants entering the criminal justice system. Court documents show that he left the task of recommending sentence to the prosecutor directly concerned, as they have taken decisions based upon nine factors.
Prosecutors “are making determinations in every case about what charge fits the offense, what charge fits the law,” Mr. Garland said, speaking at the New Yorker Festival last week. “I am quite aware that there are people who are criticizing us for not prosecuting sufficiently and others who are complaining that we are prosecuting too harshly. This is, you know, part of the territory for any prosecutor in any case.”
Personally, I believe that Garland ought to be more concerned about millions of Americans appalled by this atrocity unfolding before our eyes. What that means for civil cooperation with federal law enforcement in future.
The left responded much as we’d expect. The hashtag was used for a time. #FireMerrickGarlandIt was trending on the leftwing Twitter accounts that were mouth-breathing, because they were creating conspiracy theories as only the Left can.
You may wonder, “What is the matter with Merrick Garland?” He is supporting these elite criminals. “Who is he protecting?”

You’d expect that kind of counterfactual nonsense on the fringes, but with MSNBC and Joy Reid, the fringe become the mainstream nearly instantaneously. She (or her preferred pronouns) has put her spin on these events. In this clip from her show, she talks with Congressman Bennie Thompson, who chairs the grotesque January 6 “commission.” A “commission” that probably has already written its findings and is now making up evidence to support those findings.
Joy Reid suggests that Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice is racist because Reid says they aren’t tough enough with the majority-white people who were arrested in connection with January 6.
Is it October, and Merrick Garland’s DOJ has become racist? Yikes! pic.twitter.com/rccf41tf6g

REID: Sir, can you think of a Mississippi scenario? Let’s look at a hypothetical case. Black Lives Matter protestors in your home state claiming that we’ve been summoned but we aren’t coming. Imagine a situation where the prosecutor might say upfront that they don’t want to make too much of them for their association with Black Lives Matter. We fear this might make them more radical. Do you think that Trump supporters would be the ones to hear such things?
We all know the way that Trump’s biden group has treated anyone with Trump in child gloves. And one wonders what amoeba is eating away at Reid’s brain to lead her to conclude that Black Lives Matter demonstrators did not have a Get Out of Jail Free card when they rampaged through American cities during the summer of 2020?
Same show, the guest is now former Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and majority counsel for President Trump’s House kangaroo court indictment.
LONG KNIVES OUT MERRICK GARLAND
Joy Reid to Daniel Goldman. “There is a pattern where, if Donald Trump supports you, or if Donald Trump has been involved, the attorney general does not take much action.” pic.twitter.com/5aQmLeIx3m

This is where there is a trend: if Donald Trump is in the picture, and if Donald Trump supports him, then this attorney general does not take much action.
Sarah Kendzior tweeted an extremely brutal post about Merrick Garland last night. She also listed some of his actions and failures. Donald Trump was defended in a personal case against E. Jean Carroll. He had been accused of rape. He requested a federal judge dismiss the lawsuit against William Barr regarding the beating and gassing protesters in Lafayette Square. It was a very serious precedent. The OLC memo William Barr used in clearing Trump of obstruction of justice was not released by him. The Dems won the ruling and he appealed. He wanted to expose the corruption in the Trump Hotel. He proposes to put in place a delay of 50 years and 50 years for when federal grand juries can release materials.
Merrick Grland: At what point is Merrick switching from protecting Donald Trump’s presidency to defending Donald Trump? He believes that going after Donald Trump will only make his followers mad. This could lead them to become violent.
Joy Reid was not such an idiot that she may have been grateful to Garland for at least some vestige of obedience to law. The actions Garland has taken that Reid objects to will protect an ex-president Joe Biden and even an ex-attorney general Merrick Garland from congressional and legal scrutiny they will want to avoid (see AG Garland Facing Questions About Connection to Zuckerberg-Linked Educational Company and US Civil Rights Commissioners Ask Blistering Questions About Garland Labeling Parents as ‘Domestic Terrorists’ and More Hunter Biden Questions: Art Gallery Repping Him Gets Big Federal COVID Loan).
All of that is now. Sturm und DrangGarland’s suggestion that anyone held under arrest for six months with a jaywalking offense might leave the experience slightly miffed was just ridiculous. Garland is the one person in the Biden Judiciary Department that can see the seeds being planted. This should be celebrated. Garland won’t be fired as long as Hunter Biden is free to chase hookers and sell art. The only thing the left seems to have lost is their power. Next year, they will lose both the Senate and the House. They will lose the House in a decisive landslide. The principles that were sacrificed to support President Trump’s pursuit will not be available for Biden and his successor. When this happens, many on my side…including myself…are going to demand that Biden and all his principal cabinet officials (I’d expand the list to include any DOJ attorney who even looked at a single one of the January 6 cases) get the same treatment they dished out to President Trump.
