It’s Official: The View Announces Hire of 2 Faux Conservative Co-Hosts

The months-long search for someone, anyone to fill the “conservative” seat on The View, vacated by former co-host Meghan McCain, ended Thursday with the poorly kept announcement that they would be hiring faux conservative Republican Alyssa Farah Griffin. They not only announced they would add one fake right-winger, but also that Ana Navarro, their rotational host, will be joining the coven full-time.

Farah Griffin, a Clout Chaser, was the first to be revealed in the second half. “”Thank you. Thank you. If anyone had ever told me I would be sitting at a table with Whoopi Goldberg, I would have said, ‘you are crazy.’ It is such an honor to be with you ladies every day on this set, and it’s particularly exciting for me today,” she said.

Farah Griffin said she was “honored” and opined about how “Barbara Walters had this vision for bringing women from totally different backgrounds, lived experiences, careers, to talk about the tough issues that, frankly, our elected officials often aren’t tackling and we do that every day.”

This suggestion is that The ViewFarah Griffin believed that Congress should set an example.

If I had to choose one belief, it would be that there is more that unites the nation than that which divides. And I believe that at this table we could demonstrate what elected leaders can often not, which is agreeing but actually doing it respectively [sic]Doing so factually. You don’t have to be a part of the lies and conspiracies that take over news media.

Farah Griffin was the daughter of a rich family and had many contacts in Washington, D.C., some of which she used. Farah Griffin complained about her career path but found herself grateful. The View was giving her a “voice.” “I was, you know, a president’s spokesperson, I was a vice president’s spokesperson, I was way too many Republican mens’ of Congress spokesperson, but now it is my voice,” she said.

She was not forced to do those things.

Sunny Hostin and Sunny Hostin had an unpleasant exchange in which Sunny warns Sunny that they will be shooting for Sunny.

FARAH GRAFFIN: I am here to join the table and hopefully bring a new perspective. Listen, it’s going to get sporty sometimes, but I adore you women –

SUNNY HOSTIN: It’s going to get more than sporty.

FARAH GRIFFIN: It’s going to get more than sporty. It’s going to be so much more than sporty. It’s possible.

Co-host Joy Behar also chimed in by noting “I would imagine it’s daunting for somebody to have a completely different point of view and have to sit here.” She then ridiculously proclaimed they don’t get “personal on this show.”

Their “other humongous announcement” was Navarro’s promotion. “Well, after many years, many hairstyles, many pounds up and down, and appearances as a guest, a contributor, Snow White, a guest co-host, we’re finally putting a ring on it and making it official,” she quipped. “And first of all, I want to thank the very loyal View fans. Thank you. I have heard of you. I’ve seen you and I thank you.”

Navarro then disclosed that it might be a while until she’ll be on the show full-time, as she has other contractual obligations and family matters to attend to first:

The show and I are not ready to take on a full-time role at this time. I live a full life. Miami is home to my husband, whom I thank for being understanding of my absences. A very affectionate dog has made me very happy. These are the things that I love about Miami. Although it is difficult to let all this go every week, I love the show.

And despite being “on a plane at least four times a week” and spending “countless hours” on the road and away from home, Navarro said it was all worth it because “it’s a huge, enormous, incomparable privilege to be part of a 25-year institution” that is The View.

“And whether people like it or not, whether some people acknowledge it or not, it is the relevance and the importance and the platform that The View represents,” she swiped at critics.

WHOOPI GLOBBERG: You are welcome to join the table.

ALYSSA FARAH GRAFIN: We are grateful. I am grateful. If anyone had ever told me I would be sitting at a table with Whoopi Goldberg, I would have said, ‘you are crazy.’ It is such an honor to be with you ladies every day on this set, and it’s particularly exciting for me today. Justin, Justin’s amazing brother-in-law and I are there.

[Applause]

Many thanks for being with us.

Listen. It was a difficult task to find the right word to express my feelings about it. This show set out – as you all know – Barbara Walters had this vision for bringing women from totally different backgrounds, lived experiences, careers, to talk about the tough issues that, frankly, our elected officials often aren’t tackling and we do that every day. Important conversations are being had.

You have taught me so much, I cannot even begin to tell you how many things I learned. I also hope that I continue learning from each of you. You can see it in my preview. I was a worker for an administrative system that I fought against daily. This can make a huge difference in your life. Many of my friends were lost to me. I am estranged with my family. However, I must say that I am so proud of having found my voice.

I was, you know, a president’s spokesperson, I was a vice president’s spokesperson, I was way too many Republican mens’ of Congress spokesperson, but now it is my voice. Now I am here to join the table and hopefully offer a new perspective. Listen, it’s going to get sporty sometimes, but I adore you women –

SUNNY HOSTIN: It’s going to get more than sporty.

FARAH GRIFFIN: It’s going to get more than sporty. It’s going to be so much more than sporty. It’s possible.

If I had to choose one belief, it would be that there is more to this nation than divisions. And I think we could demonstrate what elected leaders can’t at the table, which I believe is not disagreeing but acting accordingly [sic]Doing so factually. You don’t have to be a part of the lies and conspiracies that take over news media.

Thank you, ladies. Thank you for your support. View team.

JOY BEHAR

[Applause]

FARAH GRIFFIN: I’m so excited. I’m excited.

GOLDBERG : You know what? It has never been —

BEHAR However, we are not friends on this show.

GOLDBERG : This is the first time we’ve done it on this show. We’re going to be back, so you will have to watch for that. Once we get back, we will make another big announcement.

(…)

Eastern 11:51.29

ANA NAVARRO [pointing at herself]: So here’s the other humongous announcement you said you were going to make?

[Laughter]

GOLDBERG : You told me. It was obvious.

BEHAR It’s not right.

GOLDBERG : She knows that I did not mean it this way.

[Crosstalk]

GOLDBERG

NAVARRO: Thank you, my dear.

We are finally making this official after years of trying different hairstyles and weighing in at a lot more than we should.

[Applause]

First, let me thank you for being so loyal. View fans. You’ve been my reader. I have heard of you. Thank you for seeing me.

[Applause]

It isn’t the time or the place for the show to be full-time. I also have other commitments. I live a full life. Miami is home to my husband, whom I am thankful for understanding and supporting me in times of need. A very affectionate dog has made me very happy. All these are things that I love most about Miami. Although it is difficult to let all this go every week, I love the show. And I want to thank ABC, especially Brian Teda and Kim Godwin and her team –

BEHAR: Teta. Teta.

NAVARRO: In Spanish it doesn’t work that well.

[Laughter]

NAVARRO: So Brian – let me do my thing, man.

BEHAR: Okay. I’m sorry.

NAVARRO – I would like to express my gratitude to Kim Godwin, Jose Andino and Derek Madena. Everyone, I thank you.

It was a difficult decision that I made. It’s a fact that most of my week I am on at least four flights per week. In addition to the hours spent in planes, airports, and hotels, I have many more. It’s sometimes lonely. It’s an incredible, immense, and incomparable privilege being part of such a long-standing institution. It is not something people want to acknowledge, or even like, but the relevancy and importance of the platform. The View represents.

And I – and we at this table have spent a lot of time, a lot of time talking about representation and saying representation matters. That means that a young Latina girl from Chinandega, Nicaragua, who arrived in this country as a refugee at eight years old, has the right to have the platform.

GOLDBERG: Yes.

NAVARRO:  And you run with it.

GOLDBERG: Yes.
