Is Michigan GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Governor Kevin Rinke a Secret Fan of Gov Whitmer? – Opinion

This headline, which I must ask because it is so obvious that Michigan is still a blue-state state, is yet another indication of its future. However, it is not Kevin Rinke’s fault that Michigan is currently a blue state — though he is most likely helping keep it one at the Governor’s mansion in 2022.

I stated earlier in the year that Whitmer had achieved the nearly impossible on WAAM Radio Ann Arbor Michigan. In terms of how to destroy a state in half of the time, they made eight years of Granholm’s administration seem like an amateur hour. That moment, I pledged that I would back the GOP nominee (whoever it was) against Gretch in 2022. I’m one of those pesky independents that both R’s and D’s need to get a win and have zero issues of skipping a line on a ballot if I think all options suck, so this was a big step for me.

In fact, it is monumental

Up until these past few weeks, the Republican race to face Whitmer for the nomination has been quite docile. The exception of petition signature fraud and two candidate losing their nominations, things were pretty quiet.

That quiet, of course, had to come to an end as we wind down this campaign and the Rinke camp decided it was time to go off the rails by calling a family that has supported a plethora of conservative causes over the past couple of decades “America’s betrayers.”

It is asinine.

This commercial slimes an opponent to the GOP against a truly terrible Governor, but also a family who has supported policies that improve the lives of those living in the state.

These people owe her a debt. Tudor Dixon’s campaign is bankrolled by Never Trumpers, Liberal Billionaires, and anti-MAGA turncoat Betsy DeVos. DeVos wanted President Trump to be removed from office by January 6.

(Interviewer) “In your book, you mentioned some of the discussion you had invoking the 25th amendment.”

(Betsy DeVos) “Well, I wanted to understand what the law with the amendment said.”

Dixon is bankrolled by liberals, Never Trumpers, and America’s betrayers. We just can’t trust Tudor Dixon

Liberals, Never Trumpers, and America’s betrayers.

Oh!

You can complete the absurdity of this commercial by having Rinke come out wearing ruby red slippers. Then click the shoes together so that you hopefully get back to reality, and not just the political idiocy Oz.

So being I’m not a newbie at politics, I fully understand that when it comes down to crunch time, candidates who are polling in the one, two, and three positions are going to start getting rough with each other. Rinke’s stunt was actually motivated by Dixon’s latest polling, which shows a 4-point advantage over Dixon. From Detroit Deadline:

The Detroit News reports that Tudor Nixon, Republican gubernatorial nominee, has a slim lead of 4 percentage points over Kevin Rinke in a poll of Republicans.

The lead falls within the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

From July 13 to 15, the poll included 500 likely Republican primary voters. The poll was conducted by Glengariff Group, Lansing.

The chart also revealed that Ryan Kelley, Garrett Soldano and Garrett Soldano were trailing Rinke. However, 38 percent of the likely GOP voters said they hadn’t made up their minds.

Yet the problem I have — and quite frankly anyone who gives a damn about changing Michigan from a blue state to a red state should also have — is that Rinke wants to smear his opponent on faulty reasoning and by dragging a family that has done more for “conservative” causes than he could ever dream of doing.

Rational people can disagree on policy or actions and I do disagree with Betsy DeVos about her decision to resign two weeks before Trump’s term ended in January of 2021 for the reasons she stated.

According to the Jan 6 Commission, Trump did not encourage Hot Heads from going to the Capitol to overthrow America’s government. Seriously. Adam Kinzinger, Liz Cheney, and Adam Kinzinger believe that the Village People costumed man was going to be Speaker of House. It’s ridiculous and absurd. It was a very cute story, but they never got it to happen regardless of how many prime time hearings they had.

It is absurd to discredit the Devos family, their support for causes Kevin Rinke (and all other GOP candidates) claim they support. It sounds more like Whitmer’s Public Relations team would create it to piss off Trump fans and divide the base before November.

So just to drive the point home here, I could bury this story in links to leftist rags that have verbally lit the DeVoss family on fire for their support of causes that are “right-wing” in nature. They have supported charter schools throughout the state and helped to fund Right to Life Michigan. Here’s a little bit about the lockdown protests of two years ago.

Why the DeVos family’s backing of the Michigan protests is no surprise.

After meeting both Dick Devos and Betsy Devos in 2006, and spending a few minutes with them each, I can confirm that they aren’t. Never vote for Trumpers and never become a Liberal billionaireAs described in the ad. They are not being straight, but using progressive talk points that disguise themselves as reasoned thought.

It is possible to be kind to your adversaries and not create a script that Team Whitmer will use in the event Tudor Dixon wins. Garret Soldano asked Dixon where she was in relation to the 2020 protests. She responded and they had an interesting exchange that did not devolve into… YOU’RE BACKED BY PEOPLE WHO I WISH WERE BACKING ME.

A reminder that Dixon’s Mar-a-Lago fundraising event was attended by Trump may be an indication that Trump 45 doesn’t believe Rinke is right in calling any person who trails him in polls a Never Trumper. Michigan Governor Candidate Holds a Fundraiser in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. Trump also mentioned her at a rally he held here after the Mar-a-Lago event, so maybe Rinke knows something “The Donald” doesn’t know.

Or maybe it’s not.

I’m actually interested in slowly turning Michigan red which will take decades to do. When I pledged to support the Michigan GOP’s candidate last spring, I believed they would produce a strong candidate who could take on Governor Gretch. This will help to really begin that long-term process.

If this scorched earth policy that Kevin Rinke has engaged in to win a nomination is an indication of how he would govern, I’m gonna have to pass on my earlier pledge. I have seen the more-money-than-brains act down in Texas with Beto O’Rouke and it gives me heartburn much worse than the fine Tex-Mex food in the Lone Star State.

Michigan is not going to need such nonsense, can I assure you?

In the final days of the campaign, I expect the other candidates to speak up and condemn this Whitmer attack material. It is a blatant attempt by an individual to harm an opponent. Michigan is blue, and sometimes it turns purple. To score points, calling anyone a Never Trumper/Liberal Billionaire is George Soros.

Whitmer Inc. is a major reason Michigan has suffered for the last four years. This must change. Kevin Rinke is an idiot if he thinks that trashing those who are showing their conservative values through actions is the right thing to do. He is not the best Michigan GOP candidate, and that’s bad news.

Prepare for politics as usual in the State of Michigan — and that will not end well.
