In the Abortion Sanctuary State of California, San Clemente Considers Becoming a Sanctuary for Life – Opinion

RedState colleague and me have shown that the struggle for Life is not over with the overturning Roe v. Wade. It has actually increased. The vote on Tuesday in Kansas rejecting the proposed constitutional amendment that would have specified that the right to terminate a pregnancy isn’t protected should show just how much. Kansas is more red than it appears, but the overwhelming majority of people voted against the proposed amendment. To remove abortion from federal control, the Supreme Court decided to make it illegal. This allowed the Supreme Court to give the opportunity to hear the opinions of the actual people affected.

These decision-making power allow for freedom at the local level. California Governor Gavin Newsom has designated the state as an abortion sanctuary. Newsom and the Legislature echo chamber believe that all Californian women support this. The ballot initiative to make California’s right to abort was even passed by them.

However, local people are able to think and act differently. This is because they challenge the accepted narrative.

California is the gold mine for this pro-abortion debate.

As reported by Fox News 11: A San Clemente mayor wants his council to reconsider a Resolution declaring San Clemente a Prolife sanctuary.

The city of San Clemente is considering a resolution that would ban abortions, declaring itself a “sanctuary for life” as it becomes an abortion-free zone.

Written and proposed by Councilman Steven Knoblock, the resolution “considers life to begin at conception.”

During a July 19 city council meeting, Knoblock spoke before other councilmembers, saying “my request is that the city council consider resolutions basically supporting the concept of life.”

“I’m asking this city council to consider.”

The Resolution is not an executive or legislative power. It doesn’t supersede California law, or prevent any woman who lives in San Clemente from seeking out and obtaining an abortion. This is California. The progressive contingent will condemn anything to do with Life protection and God honoring.

Here’s an example

Although Mayor Gene James supported the ordinance, it is being opposed by Councilmemers [sic]Kathy Ward, Chris Duncan, and Laura Ferguson

“This is not a city issue,” said Councilmember Ward.

“It’s going to cause a lot of problems with the council. You’re going to make half the people in the city unhappy?” she said.

Berkeley, Los Angeles and Oakland can all declare themselves to be sanctuary cities for ICE. San Clemente, however, cannot do so against abortion.

I am a BS.

Despite what Governor “Hair Gel” wants to dictate or what Sacramento does, the Counties can defy it. We have witnessed this in the never ending state of emergency. Orange County is where San Clemente is located. This has been repeated many times and I don’t see this stopping anytime soon.

Gene James, San Clemente mayor, added his views on the resolution.

“There’s no issue more important to me than protecting the unborn. However, are we prepared to fill this room with people yelling at each other?” he said.

Knoblock agreed with the mayor when asked if he was looking for “a resolution supporting life.”

It is the problem. A lack of desire to be a leader in elected leadership. If you can’t manage conflict and discuss and give the opportunity for people to hear your views, then you don’t belong in office. Period. Stop.

It is not unusual for conflict to involve heated discussion, sometimes even shouting. Mayor James should put his money where his mouth and ears are.

The atrocious Planned Parenthood of Orange County had to weigh in and call this Resolution, “dangerous.”

Planned Parenthood Centers are available for baby-infant pairs.

In Washington, D.C., where you essentially don’t have any say, the Biden Administration is still trying to make an end-run at the SCOTUS Dobbs decision. With another executive order, this time authorizing Medicaid funding to be used for out-of state abortions.

Soon, the lawsuits will start to pour in. In the meantime, San Clemente will consider this Sanctuary Life Resolution on August 16 at their next council meeting, where the citizens of the city will be able to have their say—as it should be.
