Rasmussen Reports has conducted a new poll that confirms President Joe Biden is likely to be the lame duck president just one year after he began his first term.
The poll found that 46 percent of potential voters would support former President Donald Trump in a presidential election. However, just 40% of the likely voters would choose to support Biden.
The poll reveals that several people who historically supported Democratic presidential candidate could soon be switching their preference for a political party.
So, for instance, 33% of women said they would back Trump. That’s a big increase from 2016, and 2020. A further 38 percent Hispanic voters also said they would support Trump.
Trump will receive 45 percent among independent voters who are likely to decide next year’s presidential election. Biden would only get 29 percent.
According to the poll, voters think President Biden doesn’t deserve another term. This is exemplified by the fact that 52 percent of likely voters have a “somewhat” or “very unfavorable” impression of the sitting president.
On the flip side, less than one year after he left the Oval Office, 51 percent of likely voters have a “somewhat” or “very favorable” impression of Trump.
These numbers should not come as a great surprise because Biden’s first year in office has arguably been one of the worst of any president in modern history.
Consider.
Biden was given an economy in the midst a V-shaped recovery that saw low inflation, as well as abundant and affordable energy.
Due to the war against U.S. oil production, prices for gas and other energy have soared. Under Biden’s stewardship, the inflation rate is at a 40-year high of 7 percent. Untold numbers of Americans have been forced out of work by Biden’s federal vaccine mandates. He has also mismanaged an ever worsening supply-chain crisis.
Biden’s mismanagement of the economy has not been enough to displease his ex-supporters. He also mismanaged the pandemic.
While campaigning, Biden repeatedly promised he would “shutdown the virus.” Yet, one year later, more Americans have died from COVID-19 under Biden than during Trump’s presidency.
What’s more, Biden inherited three vaccines, multiple therapeutics, and a robust testing regimen courtesy of his predecessor. Unfortunately, Biden has failed miserably in his quest to “shutdown the virus,” which was a central premise of his candidacy and his chief argument against Trump.
Biden, in addition to his economic and pandemic failures, has allowed the Southern frontier to be a haven for drugs. More than 100,000 Americans died of drug overdoses during Biden’s first year in the Oval Office, a truly atrocious development.
Biden has also instructed his attorney general to target parents who dare to attend school board meetings, laughably labeling them as “domestic terrorists.” No wonder women are abandoning Biden in droves. They want only the best for their children and know remote learning and critical racism are not the right options.
Biden’s foreign policy record has been a disaster. Biden’s failure in Afghanistan was a clear sign of his incompetence and weakness. He also handled aggressive regimes, such as Russia and China.
Trump supported peace through foreign policy strength, contrary to Biden. Though Trump’s tweets were a bit too flamboyant for Americans, Americans appreciated his calm tone and the peace that emanated from the United States.
Unlike Biden, Trump’s economic policies and domestic agenda made life better for all Americans, namely those in the lower- and middle-classes.
We should not forget that the U.S. had a record-low rate of unemployment for minority groups before the epidemic. We would also be remiss to ignore the huge benefits of Trump’s tax cuts, regulatory reform efforts, and “America First” trade deals.
As we approach the one-year mark of Biden’s presidency, it is apparent that voters are already disenchanted. Unfortunately, we may be stuck here for at least three years. Good news: Americans know the failures of the Biden Administration and long for the return of pre-pandemic America.
