Hypocrites: Don Lemon Praises SF Mayor Reversing Course on Defunding Police

CNN host Don Lemon is still pretending he’s always been critical of the radical left’s soft approach to crime. But he actually was laughing at concerns over rising crime not that long ago. He was proud of his hypocrisy. Day of the New this morning, to praise liberal officials who were doing an about face on defunding the police, as well.

Co-hosts Brianna Keilar, John Berman and guest Don Lemon were admiring Democrat mayor London Breed of San Francisco for cracking down on crime, saying she would be taking steps to address the wave plaguing her city including refunding the police.

Berman and Lemon hyped how Lemon had always been critical of the far-left’s treatment of the police: “It sounded like an episode of Don Lemon Tonight right?” Berman stated.

Lemon agreed, “You’ve heard me say this stuff. It isn’t very popular,” he boasted. He said:

You are absolutely correct. It is what we have been saying, what we have been saying during the pandemic, about the rise in crime. It is what — it is what I have always said about crime. It is what we are experiencing here in New York City,” he began.

But neither would call out Breed for her hypocritical reversal, after she had proudly defunded her city’s police department, during the Summer 2020 Black Lives Matter riots. Lemon may have been downplaying crime at the same time to protect BLM.

Instead, Lemon touted how the Democrat was doing what most black Americans and liberals want: to feel safe in their own communities: [click “expand”]

African Americans desire good officers. People want trained officers to respond when they call the police. This is what urban residents want. It’s not what they want. They are against defunding police.

London Breed, a historical liberal, is realizing that not all young people are interested in bail reform. That’s what the people don’t want. This isn’t what many liberals in the country really want. The majority of people living in this country live in the middle. Police officers are what they need. they don’t want police officers that is going to abuse them, they don’t want crime. If you ask anyone what is the number one thing they value most, it will be money or the economy. But, most people would say that they just want safety. It doesn’t matter if your position is leader or politician.

Lemon could’ve pointed out how Breed and the SF District Attorney’s radical left policies on crime failed. Instead, he blamed Fox News and the right for making crime political.

So I think — I think, it is not very popular, that people need to stop listening to the people who have gone all the way far left and saying, oh, well, we want to defund the police, we need this bail reform and these people– People who are violent, people who commit crime should be in jail. They must be kept behind bars. They cannot be found on the streets.

…[I]This must include a comprehensive approach. It can’t be just about taking out the criminals. It is, however. We have to find out how they got to be where they are. It doesn’t — it does not help them in their re-election campaign. If you are part of some propagandist network, and use crime to make points about the differences between liberal and conservative policies, it won’t help you.

CNN is not taken seriously. A New DayThe journalists are unwilling to take the same approach for Democrats, even though they enjoy taking aim at hypocrisy in the Republican party. Months later, they try to make their audience’s forget their own hypocrisy, too.

Day of the New

DON LEMON: She’s absolutely right. It is what we have been saying, what we have been saying during
the pandemic, about the rise in crime. It is what — it is what I have always said about crime. It is what we are experiencing here in New York City…

Ich hoffe er [Eric Adams]Lives up to this. Everybody is saying that New York City must have it. Let’s not forget that. But it is what we’re experiencing here–people or across the country–African Americans desire good officers.

BRIANNA KEILAR But I do — I wonder, Don, because what she is saying– this isn’t about liberal policies. Nevertheless, she proposes more police. Let’s just say that this is the core of what she has been suggesting.. You should pay particular attention to Tenderloin. If you live in San Francisco, this area is high-crime and has a lot more drug use than crime.

LEMON: Homelessness is a major issue. People who live on the streets are often homeless. We have to consider all the factors and take a holistic approach to this problem. It’s not enough to just take out crime. It is, but we must figure out how they got to be where they are. This is something people do not like to discuss politically. This isn’t going to help them in their re-election campaign. They won’t be helped if they’re part of a propaganda network that uses crime to discuss the differences between conservative and liberal policies.

It is essential to have a comprehensive approach to crime. It is important to understand how people get to their current location, the reasons they remain in these communities, the reason they were released from those institutions, the mental health of the individuals, as well as the role of police officers in the street and the power of people like Eric Adams in New York City.
