How Kind! CNN: GOP ‘Endorses Violence and Lies,’ Now Called ‘Party of Putin?’

Media and Democrats are keen to maintain the spotlight on attacking the Republican Party, portraying them in extremist terms ahead of the midterm election. So for Monday’s Don Lemon Tonight on CNN, Lemon and former Defense Secretary and Senator William Cohen added to the mix stating outright, that these people rely on violence and “write laws which advantage them to the great detriment of health, welfare, and safety of the American people.”

Referring to the Republicans supposedly “not condemning” a recent ad put out by Eric Greiten’s US Senate campaign encouraging voters to join in the fight for hunting RINOs (Republican in name only.)

Cohen went on to state that “candidates like these do not represent the best of this country,” for they “promote violence… promote lies, and dishonesty and dishonorable activity.” Completely ignoring the plethora of Republicans and Conservatives that have condemned Greitens.

That didn’t stop Cohen from playing the race card and suggesting Republicans would condemn Greitens if he was black. “Can you imagine if that was a black man with a shotgun with all of those shells loaded by his side and in the gun?” he said. “How long do you think before the Secret Service or the FBI were breaking down his door?”

Lemon encouraged violence in politics, by justifying the Black Lives Matter protests and supporting the Antifa terrorist organization. Excusing the extreme violence at the time, Lemon described it as the “mechanism for a restructure of our country or for some sort of change.”

Lemon tried to pivot to the so-called ‘stolen election,’ asking the Senator about the possibility of that happening again. Cohen warned that the Republican Party was no longer “the party of Lincoln but rather, “the party of Putin.”

They then discussed the attempted assassination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanagh. Cohen dismissed the possibility that he had been targeted by liberal extremists.

Just as a reminder, CNN initially tried to downplay the attack by suggesting the attacker didn’t have a weapon “at all” after the assassination attempt. In fact, they barely even reported on the assassination, but continued on the January 6 hearings.

Cohen said that Greitens were being actively supported by them, despite their continued disregard of Republican condemnation. “They’re saying well, First Amendment rights. No harm done. No. There was harm being done when we allowed that to take place without condemnation,” he huffed.

But that’s simply not the case.

CNN Don’t forget Lemon tonight

Eastern, 10:13.08

DON LEMON: A former U.S. Secretary of Defense is joining me now. William Cohen is a former Defense Secretary. Secretary, thank you. Thank you for being here. It was really touching to hear the election worker speak that. It is clear that we are at the end of a slippery slope. What will come out of these hearings? This country needs to be able to move in the right direction. Do I have something to say?

FMR. DEF. SEC. WILLIAM COHEN. When you use extreme rhetoric and violent rhetoric, it leads to violence. We are witnessing this on a regular base now. As a nation, we need to be asking ourselves: Where are we headed?

It is illegal to attend a meeting of the legislature, school board or city council. Governor office cannot go; the Supreme Court of the United States has a justice who was recently threatened with his own life as well as that of his family.

What is the right time to stop saying “enough”? It’s not limited to political leadership. Why isn’t every Republican Senator condemning the ad? You have rightly refused to run. Why are they not condemning that and saying, ‘this is way over the top? This is violence. You are encouraging violence?’

Next, I would like to speak with the top corporate executives of this country. Why do you spend so much money supporting the candidatures of those who would threaten the integrity of our country’s institutions? We —

LEMON (interrupting). Please repeat that. This is my take on it. Too many are in danger. It is all about the money. The politicians have the power. In the end, it is about money and power. We need to hear your opinion, Secretary.

COHEN: Yes. We just heard that we had seen the video. Then, there was a request for anyone who would like to be part of the hunt. Spend money. Purchase a permit. This is a great fundraising opportunity.

The question we need to ask the top corporate executives of this nation is: Are they treated as citizens? According to the Supreme Court, do they have the right and privilege to vote? Ask the top corporate executives: Why are you putting thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaigns for candidates that do not reflect the best interests of the country? Who promote violence and who encourage lies, dishonesty and other dishonorable activities?

It is necessary to hold you accountable. When people discover that these companies have contributed to the candidates’ campaigns, they should take action at their level. You should encourage them to vote against these corporations with your feet, and in their wallets. You should also make them pay a fine, as they vote to give power to people who benefit themselves to the detriment and safety of American citizens.

LEMON: The former President tried to steal our election. Is there any way to prevent this happening again?

COHEN: Only the American people can stop this from happening. We all knew, many of us did from the beginning, that Trump was not fit to hold that office. It was demonstrated repeatedly by him. He’s now doing it again in our — our faces. You can double, triple, or quadruple your down.

To say, ‘I am going to change the way this country functions. I do not believe in the rule or law. I believe in the power of ruling,’ and that’s what is happening to the Republican Party. This is not Lincoln’s party. This is more like the party modeled after Putin’s, where one individual can make changes to institutions and tell the people what the laws will look like. Because he’ll be writing those laws.

That’s why I am surprised not more Republicans will step up. When a threat was made to the Supreme Court justice, and his family, they were as quick as possible to respond. They called that we were there to help them.

Yes, you should speak out if your party members are running ads designed to inflame politics in this country. What if that were a black man carrying a shotgun, with all those bullets by his side? You can walk into any house and declare that you are going to murder some Republicans because they don’t like my policies.

Do you remember how long it took for Secret Service and FBI to break down your front door? It’s more than free speech. Well, First Amendment rights. No harm done. No. It was wrong that we let this happen without condemnation.

So I believe we all have an obligation to each other, Republicans and Democrats alike, regardless of whether this happens with Antifa or on the left. Anyone who supports violence should be removed from office. It is our duty, as Americans, to ensure that this happens.

LEMON: Secretary Cohen. Thank you for your kind words and time.

COHEN: Don, thank you.

LEMON: We are grateful.

COHEN
