Today’s news cycle would make you think that all professional athletes hate America. However, there are still some who don’t mind their heritage.
Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher, with an American flag wrapped around his shoulders, came out on the pitch for his fourth of July match against San Francisco Giants. He struck out four batters in five innings, earning a victory against his old team.

Bumgarner said he had a good feeling heading into his outing, but that getting the start on his country’s day of independence added some extra motivation and desire.

“I don’t know if it was just that or if it was a little mixture of everything, but it did feel like it was coming out really good leaving in the bullpen before I came in,” Bumgarner said. “I was excited to pitch on the Fourth of July. It’s a special day for me. I’m proud to be an American.”
MLB journeyman Jonathan Lucroy (currently a free agent) last played in Washington Nationals’ 2021 season. He has also expressed his solidarity with America via Twitter.
No matter what our troubles, we live in the greatest nation in all of history. We are able to enjoy the freedoms we have and prosper because of what has been sacrificed, suffered, and won. I’m humbled and thankful everyday. #Happy4thofJuly pic.twitter.com/tAg4k827ks

Lucroy couldn’t have written this better. It doesn’t matter how many faults America may have in the past, or in the present. But America is still a nation that has provided hope and prosperity for millions throughout its rich history. This should not be lost sight of and we should proudly show our appreciation for all that the country has accomplished for our citizens.
