Ricky Gervais, a British comedian and actor, hilariously warned the assembled Hollywood royalty during his famous opening monologue for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards.
If you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. It is impossible to know anything about the world. You spent most of your time at school less than Greta Thunberg. So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent, and your God and f**k off, OK?
Welp, we had a perfect case in point with a simple tweet from actress Patricia Arquette on Friday in response to reports that Russia was attacking the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine as part of an attempt to “blackmail the whole of Europe.” Her solution?
Russia must be kicked out of NATO
Okay. Why didn’t we think of that?
The hilarious part about this was when Arquette, who had been mercilessly ridiculed for tweeting it, deleted it.

Fortunately, yup — screenshots live forever.

These are the things you should do. Really got hilarious, mere hours later, when Arquette desperately attempted to extricate herself — bless her Planet Looney Tunes heart — with the following “explanation” of her “accidental” faux pas:
I’m dyslexic. It’s in my bio and has been for years. A couple 14 hour work days laters [sic, and sic]And I turned NATO and UN.
Aaand the beautiful condescending attempt to flip the script against those who called out her stupid tweet: “You will live.”
I’m dyslexic. It’s in my bio and has been for years. Two 14-hour days of work later, NATO and UN were flipped. You’ll live. pic.twitter.com/VIV2Un5Zo1

Apparently aware of “We ain’t buyin’,” Arquette then dug her hole even deeper, tweeting “proof” that dyslexia was indeed the culprit.

Not to nitpick — how do I put this tactfully? — what a complete crock of crap.
Dyslexia Beyond the Myth:
[Among the]Common myths surrounding dyslexia include the belief that dyslexics can read letters and words backwards and forwards. These characteristics are not the only problem for some people.
Ricky said it best, Hollywood: “You are in no position to lecture the public about anything.” Let alone to call for kicking a country out of NATO that — oh, never mind.
