CBS News’ Hillary Clinton shared her views on the overruling decision of Tuesday morning on Tuesday morning. Roe v. WadeThis decision has set off a firestorm of reaction across the country and ignited the left. Because a failed, elderly presidential candidate has a lot to say about such issues, we need to listen.
Despite her pro-abortion talking points being mostly rote, it was one instance that stood out. Clinton used a number of racist phrases while attacking Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Gayle King, naturally, nodded his head.
.@HillaryClintonYou can read more about me at “I went into law school with”. [Justice Thomas]. He’s been a person of grievance for as long as I have known him — resentment, grievance, anger … Women are going to die, Gayle. Women will die.” pic.twitter.com/nUGWGFVJ3m

One of the most long-standing, common racial tropes is that of the “angry black man.” It’s been used to justify all kinds of racism towards all kinds of innocent people for centuries, and Hillary Clinton just drops it like it’s nothing. It’s truly incredible to witness the double standards at play. How would you feel if an American Republican politician claimed that Barack Obama was a grievance-peddling black man who is angry? Perhaps that actually happened during his presidency (my memory isn’t perfect), but if it did, I can guarantee that it was met with outrage and accusations of racism.
Still, what makes Clinton’s comments even more egregious is how obviously false they are. Thomas was raised during segregation, and he would be able to harbor resentment. Yet, despite being the most happy, caring Supreme Court justice, he has the highest happiness. There is nothing about his personality that exudes anger, and if anything, he’s known for his laugh and ability to bring humor to a situation. You don’t have to believe me about that, though. Just a few weeks back, Justice Sonia Sotomayor described Thomas almost exactly in his defense.
Can we not also ask Clarence Thomas why he is being vilified so much? He is one of only two votes in the 6-3 Dobbs vote, but he is most prominently mentioned by Democrats. Is it because of this hyper-focus on one black man on the court that mainline Democrats now use racist tropes to attack him? And Clinton’s insults are child’s play compared to the numerous examples of leftwingers calling him all sorts of other slurs, including the n-word, on social media.
The answer is obvious, I believe. They see black Americans as political property and are more upset when Thomas does not comply with their wishes than Justices Neil Gorsuch and Samuel Alito who authored the Dobbs decision. Clinton could have gone after them easily, but she chose Thomas to do so because she feels she can offend him however she pleases. As she does this, her inner bigot glows brightly.
To end, it is worth pointing out how much projection is in Clinton’s comments. Her own words It is in factAn angry, power-hungry, and grievance-peddling elite. When she goes after Thomas the way she did, she’s only tattling on herself.
