‘Good Gal With a Gun’ Saves Many Lives in What Could Have Been Mass Casualty Event – Opinion

Many questions are being asked now regarding the response of the Uvalde police to the mass shooting. Texas Governor. Greg Abbott is saying he was misled by the police about the timeline of what occurred, that they hadn’t told him that they had waited for an hour-and-15-minutesThe moment that an officer arrived at the scene, until the officers kill the gunman.

There were some heroes, such as CBP agent Jacob Albarado who ran into school with other agents to help get his daughter out. Albarado encouraged people to permit teachers to carry and be trained so that they can defend their students and themselves. It’s not hard to think of how different things might have been had that been the case.

We can indeed look back at a Charleston case on Wednesday night.

Dennis Butler (37), was cautioned about speeding in the vicinity of a party with children living in an apartment building. Butler then returned with an AR-15 to begin shooting. The party was chaotic. There were numerous people present and several could have been killed or injured. A woman was allowed to carry a gun at the party, but she was not lawfully present. Butler was taken down by her. She pulled the gun and fired. Butler later died from multiple gunshot wounds.

“Instead of running from the threat, she engaged with the threat and saved several lives last night,” Charleston Police Lieutenant Tony Hazelett confirmed. “She was lawfully carrying a firearm and stopped a threat. There was a graduation party and a party with kids so obviously someone just graduated high school and we could have had a casualty shooting.”

Butler had a lengthy criminal record. Because of the woman’s actions, no one was hurt. Hazelett stated that she would not be charged with any offense given the circumstances.

This was most likely what made the difference between several people dying or being alive. We can see the difference that time makes — between having a gun to defend yourself or having to wait for the police to respond, as in Uvalde. That’s a window of time that can make all the difference in the world. Charleston’s shooter had an AR-15 and the woman had her pistol. But she could still take him out.

There are many things you can do in order to stop mass shootings. One of these is training people to be able to quickly respond to emergencies. These are just a few examples. We’ve also seen cases like Sutherland Springs, where Stephen Williford, a former NRA instructor came running on his bare feet with his rifle to take on a man who was shooting up a church. He shot the murderer to stop him from killing even more.
