Al Sharpton was a MSNBC host who used to be a civil rights leader. He had some words of wisdom for those far-left elitists when he spoke out about why the Democratic party has lost minority voters. Although it was an interesting departure from his race-baiting rhetoric, you’re probably familiar with what the experts say about broken clocks.
On Monday, Joe Scarborough and Scarborough had a dialogue in which they criticized the white progressive elites’ failure to listen to minority voters. Scarborough started:
“Let me say it slowly for my Democratic friends in Washington D.C. Black voters are more conservative than you are, white woke leaders in Washington D.C. Hispanic voters are more conservative than you are, white woke leaders in Washington D.C. Asian American voters are more conservative than you are, white woke voters in Washington D.C. and they’re more conservative on crime, they’re more conservative on education, they’re more conservative on ‘these woke issues.’ Get off of Twitter!”
Scarborough turned then to Rev. Sharpton was then able to give his opinion. Sharpton explained:
“They’re losing people of color because they really don’t get the people of color’s life. If you are living in a city neighborhood that is inundated with crime and you act like that is not an issue, you’ve already lost me. This is a problem. Yes, we must deal with policing, I’ve been out front with that. But you cannot ignore when 12-year-old kids, whose somebody’s niece and neighbor’s kid, get killed and you act like that’s a non-issue because you’re too elitist to live on the ground.”
But Sharpton and Scarborough only said what conservatives have been shouting for many years. Many of the progressive policies we hear aren’t popular in the black community. It is clear that many of the people pushing for defunding police forces at a time where violent crime in black and brown areas is on the rise is a sign that they have never had any meaningful conversations with ordinary black Americans.
No surprise, more voters of color are leaving the Democratic Party. Recent polls have revealed this truth:
Also, the poll found that Republicans are making progress among minorities. Hispanic voters favored a Republican candidate to Congress by 9 percentage points in the latest poll. The two parties had been tied among Hispanic voters in the Journal’s survey in November.
Black voters showed a decrease in Democratic support, falling to 35 points from November, when they favored Democrat for Congress. Black support for the Republican candidate increased to 27%, up from just 12% in November.
It is a terrible news story for Democrats. Although they are likely to still win majority minority votes in next year’s congressional elections, there is clearly a trend. A party that promises to address their concerns but ignores them after they have been elected is disenchanted among non-white voters.
As I’ve stated previously, this is a marvelous opportunity for the Republican Party if it wakes up and plays its cards right. It is now that the GOP can begin to make inroads among black and Hispanic Americans, who are fed up of the left’s lies. Al Sharpton or any other prominent voice on this topic is an indication that the Democrats are facing serious problems. It is clear that Republicans will lose this paradigm shift if they don’t take advantage.
