Friday marked 50 years, millions and more deaths. Roe V. WadeThe Supreme Court overturned the decision. Pro-abortion extremists took to the streets immediately after the Supreme Court’s decision was overturned. There was some violence that night and more over the coming days.
It is understandable to observe passionate reactions. RoeThe political conversation is flowing all around the globe, so it doesn’t make sense for ESPN to comment. Yet, that’s exactly what happened, and it was as weird and unhinged as you’d expect.
It is important to remember that it is not necessary for @espn covering this at all — was anyone asking them to cover this? — the clip perfectly encapsulates @espn’s far left wing bias. Tweets from the left-wing, which misrepresent what the court did and offer no value for their fans, are shared.

This begs the obvious question: Why is ESPN covering it? The audience tunes in to see the most recent MLB scores and to follow how NFL workouts go. Malika Andrews should cry while the Supreme Court rules are being rewritten. Roe even does? What does the WNBA have to say, when no one actually watches it? Where’s the demand for that?
I think the answer is that there isn’t any demand for that. That’s testified to by the fact that ESPN’s ratings are shrinking, while parent-company Disney is in the midst of a stock collapse. In fact, viewers are turning off because of the mix of politics and sports. However, this is what has happened across all of the country in corporate America. Younger, more educated staff are now running the show and making sure that things like this get on-air. Executives are terrified of internal dissent if they don’t acquiesce.
If you want to satisfy a minority of extremely woke individuals, it is a bad idea for your business to drive long-standing businesses into disarray. This makes absolutely no sense. Are shareholders just not concerned about the loss they take due to the decision of politicizing and dividing, even though sports is universal? Perhaps those shareholders just aren’t organized to the point where they can fight back, but you’d think things would reach a breaking point soon enough.
Past that, it’s especially disturbing to see a black woman tear up on the air about the overturning of a “50-year precedent” — when it was the overturning of 60-year precedent Plessy that ended segregation, and that’s just one of several examples. Is this the real argument? If it is used to protect the murder of unborn children, then that precedent cannot be touched.
This is the second attempt by the left to deal with the question of Roe It remains one of most absurd, demented arguments in political history. Still, ESPN isn’t supposed to be about politics. Unfortunately, it appears zero lessons have been learned, and for that, they’ll continue to lose viewers.
