According to my previous reporting, several news outlets including Bloomberg, Reuters and The Wall Street Journal announced Monday morning that Twitter and Musk were close to an agreement. A possible announcement could be made as soon as Monday afternoon. That came as a surprise after many assumed that the deal was on life-support following the Twitter board’s execution of a poison pill to keep Musk from gaining a majority stake.
Musk tweeted this just as Musk announced that a deal was in the final stages.
Because that’s what freedom of speech is all about, I wish that my most vile critics will not be on Twitter.

I don’t think Musk would be extending this olive branch to those who have proclaimed they are going to leave the platform if he wasn’t sure this thing is in the bag. The whole point of Musk’s supposed exodus was him taking over. Why try to convince them to not go over the cliff if the thing they were running off the cliff over isn’t a done deal? You guys seem to be following me.
Needless to say, not one of those who claim they will leave Twitter is actually leaving. Why? Influence is addictive. It’s also very lucrative for certain individuals and outlets. The lefty blue checksmarks will not disappear. Although they might virtue signal temporarily, they’ll be back. While they wait, it’s a fun sight to see how dramatic and vocal they can be as they yell at the potential for less political censorship.
You have to stop and think about this stupidity. Musk does not claim that he will abolish all moderation or turn Twitter into Gab. However, you should expect the TOS to be in place.
However, the left enjoys monopoly over information flows. They are thrilled that Twitter previously prohibited true stories by right-leaning media outlets. They love that Twitter has special deals with leftwing “fact-checkers” to suppress embarrassing information on Democrats. They are happy that the rules regarding harassment and doxxing don’t apply to only one side. Under Musk, all that goes away and the playing field is leveled, and there’s nothing the left hates more than having to fight fair.
Anyway, let’s hope I’m not misreading this. You can make it against me for ever if I’m wrong.
Within minutes of the piece going live, this article went out of print. According to The Wall Street Journal the deal has been completed and an announcement will follow shortly. Of course, this isn’t “official, official,” but it’s as close as we are going to get until someone puts out a press release. RedState will be reporting on it when it happens.
