Donald Trump Received Millions in Donations Following FBI Raid – Opinion

Following the FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, he has received millions of dollars from his supporters. Trump is asking his supporters to send him emails to capitalize on the FBI raid and to make donations to his political action team.

According to the Washington Post, following the FBI raid, the donations to Trump’s action committee surpassed $1 million on at least two days.

Eric Wilson is a Republican strategist who said:

“If you’re not talking about Mar-a-Lago in your fundraising you’re swimming against the current … For Trump, it’s been difficult for the last several months because he has not been in the spotlight so much. With Trump being thrust back into the spotlight, of course it’s going to be good for them from a fundraising perspective.”

Trump’s PAC has collected over $100,000,000 since he resigned. Some of these donations will be kept for 2024 to help him build a war fund for his run for the presidency. According to the Washington Post, the PAC spent less than $5 million for Trump-endorsed candidates — David Perdue in Georgia, Harriet Hageman in Wyoming, and Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania. Trump won’t have any trouble fundraising money, no matter what.

Jessica Baldwin-Philippi from Fordham University, who studies how digital communication is used by political campaigns, stated:

“Trump as a candidate and fundraiser has always had an impressively dedicated set of constituents who are particularly mobilized by anger … A threat, a negative, a time when you lose, can actually be lucrative.”

Trump could use this platform to launch his 2024 White House bid. Other candidates include former Vice President Mike Pence (R-AR), Senator Tom Cotton, and Nikki Haley (ex-ambassador to the United Nations). In order to steal as many Trump votes as possible, Liz Cheney could run for president in 2024.

The other notable GOP figure is Governor Ron DeSantis (R–FL), who seems to be attracting the attention of GOP donors. They are backing the Governor for 2024, if he chooses to run as President. He could win his November gubernatorial election easily, which would set up an enormous matchup between Trump or DeSantis, if either of them decides to run. While one will likely run, the other seems less likely to do so in 2024.

It is important that Trump voters and DeSantis unite in support of the nominee, defeating the far-left agenda and winning November 2024.
