Democrats Swat Down a Measure to Ban Critical Race Theory in the Military – Opinion

Critical Race Theory might’ve recently been put on a path for removal from American military academies. The congressional Democrats were not satisfied.

Combat veteran and Republican Florida Rep. Mike Waltz — who sits on the House Armed Services Committee — introduced a CRT-banning measure Wednesday. The non-civilian use of CRT has been the topic of many headlines in the past year.

During summer of 2021, for instance, Lynne Chandler Garcia — associate professor of political science at the United States Air Force Academy — made news for schooling cadets with race-oriented ideology.

In an Op-Ed published by the Washington Post she defends herself

America was built on two things: equality and liberalism on one hand and inequal rights and inequality on the second. … Racism was ingrained in the system from the beginning…

Teaching Critical Race Theory, Lynne claimed, helps those risking their lives for our nation “identify the structural racism and inequality that has been endemic in American society.”

Tennessee Republican Rep. Mark Green had a particularly notable response to Lynne’s ideas: Fire her.

The way Mark saw it, her comments constituted a “full-throttle attack” on the United States. “Her support for Critical Race Theory,” he insisted, leaves her “unqualified to teach in one of our prestigious military academies.”

You can be certain that CRT is more widespread than the Air Force.

US Army: West Point Cadets Learn Critical Race Theory from the Army

You may recall Gen. Mark Milley’s defense of West Point’s racialization last summer:

CRT is part of the military’s emphasis on inclusion for minorities and LGBT individuals — see “Report: Navy Says Sailors Can Use Whichever Locker Room Suits Their Gender Identity.”

Here’s more from The Washington Free Beacon:

Cadets at West Point…last year attended a seminar titled “Understanding Whiteness and White Rage.” Other courses at West Point teach cadets how to address their “whiteness,” according to recently leaked documents.

Rep. Mike Waltz wanted to gain ground in the other direction — at military academies and Department of Defense-run K-12 schools. The legislation was killed by the House Democrats.

Mike wrote last July for Fox News a piece explaining the consequences of CRT.

Imagine yourself a recently graduated from West Point’s U.S. Military Academy. You are now an infantry officer commanding a unit within an active conflict zone.

Your command is thousands of miles from your home, and you are responsible for their lives. As in other instances, you will find soldiers from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities within your unit.

All of this should be considered when you consider that government-funded courses have taught you that institutions that you serve, as well as the units you wore an oath protecting, are intrinsically racist. This means that you need to take into account that there is inherent inequalities based on skin colour in your decisions.

How does this affect your decision to order soldiers against machine guns? Is it possible to choose a different-racial soldier because of White guilt?

We haven’t heard the last from Mike on the matter. He told the Free Beacon he’ll be revisiting the issue after the midterms:

“Once Republicans take back Congress, we are going to investigate this further and put an end to this indoctrination.”
