Democrats Prepare a Mid-Term October Surprise to Influence the Election – Opinion

Democrats are facing their worst political environment in over a decade heading into November’s mid-term elections. Republicans are the dominant party on the generic ballot, and have an advantage structurally in their bid for the House of Representatives. The GOP is also expected to control the Senate, despite some concerns over candidate quality.

The correlation between presidential approval and their party’s mid-term prospects also can’t be ignored. Joe Biden is currently at the bottom of the polls for his term. A recent Times/Siena poll showed him as just 33% approval, and only 13% believing that the country’s on the right path.

In response, Democrats have desperately tried to change the narrative by focusing on abortion and guns, but that’s gone over like a lead balloon because ultimately, those aren’t issues that affect the vast majority of Americans in their everyday lives. Still, the most important concerns are inflation and the economy.

The Democrats are simply failing to grasp the basics. That means they need to do something to influence the election that goes beyond actually enacting good policy, and if you listen closely, you’ll discern exactly what they are preparing.

What evidence is there that we’ll have a massive, deadly COVID spike in the Winter? There isn’t much except the fact that we know the coronavirus is largely seasonal now. The virus has been shown to be less dangerous than it was in the past because of a combination natural and vaccine-induced immune system.

The administration continues to sound the alarm and has even extended the current state of emergency.

Then there’s Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has been a ghost for the last few months. He popped back up on Tuesday to let Americans know that we can’t just “put the pandemic behind us.”

If you’ve read this far, you probably see where I’m going with this. The threat of COVID was used by Democrats to get through a range of state election legislation changes prior to 2020. This included swing states such as Pennsylvania. Unmonitored drop boxes were placed in cities to facilitate mail-in voting. Things like so-called “drive-thru voting” also became popularized as well as extensions that allowed ballots to be returned well after election day.

What that all added up to was a chaotic free-for-all of an election with very few guardrails, and that’s exactly what Democrats want to see again in November. Even fraud can be ignored. The truth is that Democrats enjoy mass mail-in voting and ballot harvesting. There’s a reason they wanted to federalize those practices while eliminating election security provisions like voter ID.

It is evident that the White House plans to promote more COVID anxiety as we move into fall. The White House will use this hysteria to push for new election laws. Democrats need something to change the game because their actual governance isn’t going to cut it.

Republicans can’t allow themselves to get run over yet again by the exact same truck. While the Obama administration pushes the COVID narrative, Republicans need to respond to make clear that they will not change the electoral laws regardless of what the outcome. They cannot dictate at the state and federal levels. In 2020, many red states lined up to do the Democrats’ bidding on this front. It is time to change things.
