It’s the same song: Gun-grabber Democrats demand that the Second Amendment rights to law-abiding gun owner be curtailed. Another deadly weekend on Chicago’s bloody Southside, gun-grabber Democrats remain silent. The song is still the same, hypocritical and hellish.
The obvious question: Why the histrionic reaction to “gun crime” in the first scenario–and not the latter?
The equally obvious answer: Because mass shootings, particularly when committed by white males with “assault rifles,” fit the Democrat narrative to a T, fueling the incessant drive to take away gun rights, while primarily black-on-black handgunIt is not possible to murder in gang-related circumstances.
Moreover, the facts about the latter destroy the left’s arguments about the former.
Democrat lawmakers and strategists are “absolutely furious,” as reported by Politico, over the mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois — roughly 25 miles north of downtown Chicago — that left seven people dead and more than 30 wounded.
As Politico also noted, Vice President Kamala Harris predictably parroted the Democrat schtick, “perfectly.”
“We need to end this horror. We need to stop his violence,” Harris said, calling for Congress to have the “courage” to act and renew the assault weapons ban. “And we must protect our communities from the terror of gun violence.”
Uh-huh, Kamala. What about the 32-miles to the south from Highland Park? Where do the bloody Southside streets run on a nearly daily basis? Is there an outcry? That “gun crime”? Your president’s outcry? Your entire Democrat Party. Your lapdog media? Rhetorical questions; we’ve already answered them.
Camille Rivera is a Democrat strategist who was also a Partner at New Deal Strategies. bigly, accusing him of “missing the boat here.”
He’s missing the boat here. We need to get in on the action and be furious that these half-measures aren’t working. He’s got a real excitability problem.
Our rights are being violated and there have been two shootings right on the day people were supposed to celebrate their independence. I really don’t understand where this passivity comes from in this situation.
Translation: Failing to heed the words of Rahm Emanuel, who admonished Democrats: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” Other translation: “passivity” = lack of more-aggressive gun-control laws.
Ironically — stay with me, here — Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering, in the aftermath of the parade shooting, as reported by my RedState colleague Jennifer Oliver O’Connell on Wednesday, declared America a nation “enslaved to guns,” and called for a nationwide ban on “assault weapons” (AKA: scary-looking semiautomatic rifles).
Our ban on assault weapons was implemented in 2013. We were able to survive lawsuits from the NRA and the United States Supreme Court. It would be wonderful to have a ban across the state. But let’s be honest, Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin are very close by, people travel interstate all the time. The effort must come from all corners. It is essential that our leaders are motivated to put an end to the chaos.
Hold on, just a second. So, Highland Park banned “assault weapons” in 2013. Yet the Highland Park shooter reportedly used a “high-powered rifle” that was similar to an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle to shoot up the Fourth of July parade. Mayor, with all my respect, how does that make any difference? AR-15s, and other similar firearms, are legal in other states. If your ban was so effective, why didn’t the shooter adhere to Highland Park’s law? What’s that you (should) say, mayor? Evil doesn’t follow the law?
Meanwhile, what about the bloody streets of Chicago’s Southside?
As the faux histrionic Democrats continue to exploit the hell out of the Highland Park shooting, what about the deadly streets of Chicago’s Southside? More specifically, how’d things go — gun crime-wise — over the Fourth of July weekend? Here’s the down and dirty: At least 10 people died after being shot, and another 62 were wounded, in Chicago over the Fourth of July weekend, according to Just the News.
Twelve of the wounded were shot during three separate attacks on the city’s west and South sides. As fireworks displays and other July Fourth events Monday night ended, four were shot in West Garfield Park Friday evening, five in Parkway Gardens Monday morning and three in Woodlawn on Tuesday.
Here’s more detail, as reported by Just the News.
At around 4 p.m., a man was killed and six shots were fired at him while he was on his bike. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was declared dead. There have been no arrests.
The bullet apparently shot into the air struck a 5-year old boy in the right shoulder as he was playing in his yard Monday evening. His condition was good and no arrests were made.
The shooting of a 10-year old boy while he was sleeping in his bed Sunday night left him with serious injuries. According to investigators, bullets were fired into the Englewood side of the boy’s home just after 10:30 p.m. The boy was taken to the Chicago Comers Children’s Hospital in good condition.
After being shot in his abdomen in North Lawndale on Saturday, a 90-year old man was taken to the hospital.
It was chaos in a word. Townhall’s Julio Rosas caught some of the madness.

It went on and on. Every weekend it happens. Where was Biden, though? But where was Kamala Harris, the entire Democratic Party? Did you see CNN, MSNBC or the whole Democrat Party? Other than waxing histrionic over the Highland Park shooting, “assault rifles” and “weapons wars,” and of course demanding tougher gun-control legislation.
Never mind that the deranged, 22-year-old loser who legally purchased firearms, as reported by RedState, despite having had two previous encounters with law enforcement, attempting suicide in 2019, and a family member in 2019 saying the shooter threatened to “kill everyone.” Even worse, police removed 16 knives, a dagger, and a sword at the time, but found no probable cause to arrest.
Bottom line:
No organization is more hypocritical than The Democrat Party.
Other than anointing itself “the party for the children,” yet vehemently championing on-demand abortion until birth, the Democrat Party’s exploitation of every mass shooting that comes down the pike as an excuse to call for stricter gun-control laws, while virtually ignoring the daily carnage in streets in virtually every major city in America, not only could It should not beIt is more hypocritical than it should be.
The 2022 midterms and the 2024 presidential election: Let’s not blow either one, my fellow conservatives.
