Court Gives Musk Access to Docs from Fired Twitter Exec: Report

On Monday, the Delaware Court of Chancery ruled that Twitter must give Elon Musk documents from its former head of consumer product.

The Verge reported that although Musk requested documents from 22 Twitter employees, the court granted just one of his requests. According to an order obtained by Vox.com, Judge Kathaleen McCormick ordered Twitter to “collect, review, and produce documents from Kayvon Beykpour.”

However, the court ordered Twitter to produce documents from Mr. Beykpour and 41 other custodians. “The plaintiff is not required to collect, review, or produce documents from any other of the defendants’ proposed 22 additional custodians,” the order reads. The plaintiff only needs to collect, review and produce the documents of 41 custodians that plaintiff has agreed to. Mr. Beykpour.”

Parag Agrawal, the company’s CEO, fired Beykpour in May last year. decided to “take the [company] in a different direction.”

In a podcast recorded last year, The Verge said that as the head of consumer product, Beykpour was “responsible for deciding what tools Twitter actually builds for people to express themselves.”

MRC Free Speech America had reported earlier this month that Musk claimed his purchase of the platform for $44billion would proceed if he could prove real accounts. The “proof” Musk is asking for would presumably end Twitter’s lawsuit against Musk and his countersuit against the company.
