CNNEE Breaks Latino Media’s Silence on Durham Report, Dismisses As Conservative Conspiracy

Four days after special counsel John Durham revealed new findings in the investigation into the Trump-Russia collision, which states that close associates of Hillary Clinton were monitoring internet traffic at Trump properties and the White House in order to create a “narrative”, CNN En Español broke the Spanish-language media´s silence with a report that downplayed the news as same-old-same-old material hyped by the conservative media.

Juan Carlos Lopez, anchor of the Anchor Juan Carlos Lopez dismisses all things Durham as Trumper garbage. In his closing line, the anchor even preempts the future findings of the investigation:

JUAN CARLOS LOPEZ, CNNEE: You may have heard a particular version in the media, especially conservative media, which says that the investigating prosecutor John Durham, who was appointed by former Attorney General William Barr to get to the center of the investigation into the alleged contacts between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia. It is possible that you heard Trump spy on Hillary Clinton. Trump even said it would result in the death penalty. It turns out, that is not the truth. John Durham was filing a document.

Contrary what former President Trump and his followers claim, Durham the investigator did not assert that Trump’s communications were intercepted by his campaign. The confirmation that these phones were searched for the Sussman role isn’t new, as it had already been reported in 2013. However, the investigation will be included in Friday’s trial. If proven true, the evidence will be shown. But no, the investigating prosecutor Durham has not presented anything contrary to what you might have read about Trump and his campaign.

Lopez´ fixation with the conservative media as evil purveyors of misinformation -rule #1 at CNN- showed through right from the beginning:  “You may have heard a particular version in the media, especially conservative media”; and then “Contrary to what conservative media and followers of former President Trump himself say”; and, to wrap it up: “Contrary to the headlines you may have seen..” It appears that the idea here is to blame everything on conservatives and distract from the real subject in question: Hillary Clinton.

In his staunch defense of the former Secretary of State, Lopez says that the new filings will be used in “the process that will follow and This will allow you to see if the trials are true and illegitimate., But they’ve not done anything.Contrary to some headlines about Trump and Clinton, he is not a spy on Trump. He says that even though the evidence must still be presented in court, it is clear that nothing will be discovered.

That´s powerful. This is a powerful example of a departure from normal reporting. Stories were covered for weeks despite the lack of evidence to back them. To give just two examples, Trump’s tax returns and the hoax about “suckers & losers”, to mention a few.
