Biden Put out the Welcome Mat at the Southern Border – Opinion

As President Biden made a threatening gesture at Putin about a European frontier that doesn’t matter to him, the southern border of our country might be better served by conveyor belts. Russia had amassed over 100,000 troops ready to invade – an international crisis. DHS swam to our southern border. reported a total of 153,941 encounters — in one month, and that’s down slightly from both November and December.

Biden, who was about to administer the oath, swore that he would uphold both the Constitution and laws of the United States. People were also moving quickly towards our southern border in an attempt to illegally cross. The flow of people was only half that of January 2022.

The last full January of Trump’s presidency, the illegal traffic was barely one-fourth of what it was this past January. Trump tried to stop — or at least slow — the flow of illegals with a border wall.  Democrats resisted this effort and there is now a record amount of trafficking across the southern border.

RedState reported on the massive influx of people, many of which were adult males, released into the interior. It was only three weeks ago that almost every one of these individuals would be available for disposition hearings.

Pew Research produced a report with helpful charts showing the growth of illegal crossings in 2021. With a 509 per cent increase over 2020, crossing the Rio Grande was the most dangerous. They make huge profits and are very cost-effective. Illegals are ferried by cheap boats across the river and deposited at ICE agents. There they can demand asylum. Yuma saw the largest percentage increase, an 1200% rise. Cartels have billions of dollars. Business is good — it’s so good they now use wristbands like their customers have bought a thrill-ride across the water.

Biden assigned Kamala Harris to the southern border issue and she’s failed spectacularly. Biden’s DHS Director has failed as well. He recently visited with Border Patrol agents and was filleted for his ineptitude and for wearing a badge when he didn’t earn it. Biden’s VP and bureaucrats have all failed but only one person can be blamed for the surge of illegals: Joe Biden.

On Biden’s first day in office, he canceled Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” (Migrant Protection Protocol) program. A federal court ordered DHS to restore it in October 2017. No matter — the word was out. You can get into the country by crossing at the border.

Biden did not try to fix the problem, or slow the flow. He instead laid out the welcome mat.
