John Berman, CNN New Day’s host, was overwhelmed with joy Wednesday as he repeated the accusation that Donald Trump called Ron DeSantis “gutless” and repeatedly mentioned it on Wednesday’s CNN New Day. In the meantime, there were no signs that Democrats would suffer significant losses in next year’s midterm elections.
Berman’s unbridled joy was evident during a segment in which Trump called certain politicians “gutless” after they declined to tell whether they have had booster shots. The clip was then followed by DeSantis’ careful response to Maria Bartiromo’s direct question about whether he had received the booster.
CNN’s Steve Contormo declared DeSantis’ Florida State of the State Addres to be a “nationally political speech,” and Berman followed suit, his excitement heightened as he claimed that Trump had made the accusation of DeSantis of being “gutless”.
The liberal media has little to no political news with their beloved Democrats in danger of a red wave in 2022. But if they can’t trumpet Democrat triumphs, it looks like the MSM might try to console itself by taking pleasure from the inevitable Republican jostling for position as we approach 2024.
CNN’s John Berman gleefully suggested that Donald Trump had accused Ron DeSantis being “gutless”. This was partly sponsored by Kia Jenny Craig, Zip Recruiter and GlaxoSmithKline. GlaxoSmithKline is the maker of ChapStick, Sandals and Liberty Mutual.

Day of the New

KAITLIN CELLINS: Steve DeSantis never used the terms coronavirus or pandemic. He did he?
STEVE CONTORMO: He didn’t. It was striking that, even though all these cases are increasing in Florida and that there is still a pandemic in the state, it wasn’t mentioned by Governor DeSantis in his 30-minute State of the State speech yesterday. This was truly a national speech. This speech was very politically charged.
JOHN BERMAN – A national political speech. It’s almost like Ron DeSantis may be interested in a new job. The presidency. Say the Republican nomination in 2024.
Steve! It is possible that someone else noticed this. Donald Trump, the ex-President of the United States. In the spirit of political intrigue and fun yesterday, I’m going to quote Trump in an interview regarding vaccines, booster shots, which he now supports publicly. Listen.
DONALD TRUMP: I’ve taken it. I have had the booster. Many politicians—I watched a couple of politicians being interviewed—and one of the questions was, did you get the booster? Because they received the vaccine. They, oh! oh, are answering the question like they want. Because they are stupid. It’s up to you to speak it. It doesn’t matter if you have it or not.
BERMAN: They’re gutless! You might wonder who is gutless for failing to answer the booster question. This is what you should do.
MARIA BARTIROMO – Dr. Fauci explained that to be fully vaccinated, one must have two shots and the booster. Are you getting the booster shot?
RON DEANTIS [pause]So, I have done what I had to, the usual shot, and people can make their own decisions on what they wish to do.
BERMAN: Steve it appears that Donald Trump was referring to Ron DeSantis there. So, what do we see in the relationship between them?
CONTORMO – Governor DeSantis, of course, is one the most prominent names in Republican politics. DeSantis has made quite a name on Fox News where he was featured as a guest often. You know that many have praised Governor DeSantis for the way he ran Florida. The president seems to have noticed from past reporting we’ve done. DeSantis has not said whether he will run against Trump in 2024, which is something he doesn’t like about other Republicans. All of this is important.
BERMAN: Gutless. It’s still quite interesting to hear this.
