Talk about damning with faint praise. . .
Friday, Neue Day, CNN correspondent Alex Marquardt interviewed Luliia Mendel, Ukrainian President Zelensky’s former spokeswoman, and asked about her tweet [since deleted after blowback]She said it in this way Kamala Harris would become the president of America, which would be “tragedy”.
Marquardt heard Mendel explain that Harris’s laugh/cackling reaction at the Polish president’s press conference about the Ukrainian refugee problem this week was her reference to Mendel. Mendel explained this. “it was a very bad experience to see this type of reaction—a laugh—when we were listening about one of the biggest tragedies of Ukraine right now.”
You can try to make the situation more bearable. Mendel, noting that Harris serves as president of the Senate and that the US has provided significant military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, said:
“Even though her communication was inappropriate [sic]Her actions may make more sense.
Translation: Kamala is not as inept than her public performances would suggest. Not exactly a ringing endorsement!
Marquardt seemed a little embarrassed to raise the matter with Mendel and said “I have” that he would ask. about it. But give him credit for doing so.
You should also note that Mendel, before she became Zelensky’s spokesperson, was co-author of the book a New York Times article that suggested that as Obama’s vice president, Joe Biden, had pressured the Ukrainian government, threatening to withhold $1 billion in aid unless the prosecutor who was looking into Burisma, the company that had paid his son Hunter big money, was removed.
On New Day, CNN correspondent Alex Marquardt about her tweet in which she wrote that it would be a “tragedy” if Kamala Harris became president was sponsored in part by Farmers Insurance, Subaru, USPS, and AT&T.

6:21 am ETALEX MARQUARDT: Luliia. If you are still able to hear me, Please answer these questionsAbout something that you posted on Twitter. It was tweeted by you that Kamala Harris’ presidency would be a disaster. That tweet was deleted. You deleted that tweet. Why do you believe that?
LULIIA MENDEL – I have deleted this tweet after I was told that it is an air alert. Sorry, I had to delete that tweet.Kamala Harris was a type of person, it was said to me. [inaudible]Communication is important when the woman feels uneasy.
It was, however, for Ukrainians and us. it was a very bad experience to see this type of reaction—a laugh—when we were listening about one of the biggest tragedies of Ukraine right nowWhen so many million of Ukrainians become refugees.
But we do understand that the United States stands united with Ukraine. The $13.6 million that the United States provided for Ukrainian troops and Ukrainian humanitarian aid is greatly appreciated.
Kamala Harris actually is president of Senate. This is it! We understand that, even though her communication may have been inappropriate, her actions probably make more sense. Show more than some of her communication behavior.
MARQUARDT: Okay. Luliia, it’s okay. Your safety and escape from the violence are both a blessing. Your family and friends are our greatest wishes. We are grateful.
MENDEL – Thank you very much.
