How often did we hear, “The buck stops here,” from the media during the Trump years? No matter how deserved it may have been, journalists held the Republican President accountable for any bad things that occurred in this country. With Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee, standards have fallen significantly. We’re seeing this play out now as media outlets refuse to blame the president for the current economic woes.
The Thanksgiving holiday is Washington Post CNN economic columnist Catherine Rampell was spinning for the Biden administration’s benefit. At host Jessica Dean’s prompting, she ordered the majority of Americans who disapprove of the president’s handling of the economy, not to blame the administration:
“[A] new NPR/Marist survey finds Americans’ view of Biden’s job approval overall mirrors how they view his handling of the economy,” Dean noted adding that inflation was a top concern. She suggested that Biden didn’t deserve to be scrutinized over the economy. “Catherine, does President Biden deserve to be blamed for all this? Should he be — should his approval rating be tied to this, are these things under his control?” she questioned.
Rampell laughed off the suggestion that Biden deserved to be blamed. “[T]The one thing I say every time I am asked about presidents being properly credited with economic conditions is that they are. presidents get too much credit when the economy is good and too much blame when the economy is bad,” She argued.
The pandemic has been going on for two years, but the situation is still not improving. PostInstead, columnists claimed that the pandemic was to blame:
“Inflation is up not because of any particular thing that the president did. This is due to all the supply chain disruptions around the globe caused by the pandemic. Demand is up,” she claimed.
She also blamed Americans for having money from the stimulus, “burning a hole in their pocket:”
Partly, that is due to fiscal policy decisions by congress and this President and the prior president. These included giving stimulus checks and such like more. However, it’s also true that many people have a large amount of savings since last year. The bank has money. This money is burning holes in their pockets. They would like to spend it.
Rampell also claimed that government payments were more sufficient to cover the financial needs of the American average family over the past two decades:
“Given the amount of government transfers they have received over the last year, it is possible that they will be in the lead. For the average family, the stimulus checks, child tax credits, etc., should outweigh any erosion of wage income.,” she claimed. Rampell is clearly living in a bubble. However, she was unwilling to take the blame for Biden.
The supply chain is difficult, making it more expensive for goods. Inflation is a result of all this. That is what’s happening around the world. It’s not Biden’s fault.Biden can’t do much about the situation, but it is similar to that of Obama.
So it’s the pandemic, supply chain, and Americans’ spending habits…but definitely not any policies from the president.
Fox News pointed out that while CNN blamed everyone except Biden for inflating the economy, Fox News reduced inflation to an insignificant concern.
Friday Fox &FriendsRachel Campos Duffy, the host of The Rachel Campos Show, read headlines that were particularly disturbing.
RACHEL CAPOS-DUFFY: Rising prices have a negative impact on Americans. Yet, the U.S. media is downplaying some of the most pressing concerns facing households. Yahoo writing well, ‘maybe Christmas shortages are a gift’ to TIME concluding quote ‘how Americans shoppers broke the supply chain.’ Are they following the lead of President Biden by making fun of this important issue?
“I can’t imagine the inflation being this way under Trump and the media saying ‘hey, it’s the shopper’s fault. You are responsible. It is not the Biden Policies,” Duffy said to Lara Trump.
Trump blasted the media’s approach: “It’s really not a great strategy, Rachel, to ridicule the American people who are struggling this holiday season and say ‘well, gosh, this was all your fault’, that’s really the way they want to go with this?”
She called out the media “coddling” President Biden while he visited his billionaire friends this Thanksgiving as Americans struggle:
Don’t believe for one second that Joe Biden will be called out by the mainstream media. You almost feel like he was exaggerating it. You guys know this. I was at the billionaire compound, one of America’s most wealthy zip codes for this year. He’s very comfortable there while American people are struggling. It’s not the same situation for Americans now as it was 10 months before Joe Biden became president. You’ll see this more often, I think. This is what we know. They coddled him. They allowed him to get away with it all. They didn’t have an interview in which Joe Biden would tell them how they plan to assist the American people. We can only see the relaxed interviews that Al Roker has with us from the parade.
Advertiser Dick’s Sporting Goods paid CNN to endorse Biden. They can be reached at the Conservatives Fight Back linked page.

CATHERINE RAMPELL, As you have pointed out, the economy is performing well by many measures. Historical standards show that unemployment is low. Today’s unemployment is less than in mid-2000s housing boom. It also has fallen since Obama took office. It is performing well in the stock market. Gdp is now higher than it was before the pandemic, although it’s not as high as it should be. As our viewers have just seen, retail sales are on the rise. The economy is looking good on all metrics. Consumer sentiment however is not good right now. This is due to inflation. Consumers feel that their living standards are being reduced because of the rising cost of living.
Given the amount of government transfers they have received over the last year, it is possible that they will be in the lead. For the average family, the stimulus checks, child tax credits, etc., should outweigh any erosion of wage income. let’s say. People are concerned that inflation could continue. People are concerned that wages won’t keep pace with inflation. So, despite the positive numbers that you mentioned, many people feel very pessimistic about this economy.
JESSICA DEAN You just mentioned that inflation was at the top in people’s minds. If you asked people their top economic worries, they were shocked to see inflation at 39% followed by wage, labor shortages and unemployment at the bottom. Catherine, does President Biden have to take the responsibility for all this? Do you think he should be?
RAMPELL – So, I will tell you what I always say to be asked about presidents being properly credited for the economic condition. The president gets too much credit for a good economy and too little blame for a bad economy. Or too much blame for parts of the economy that are bad or parts or parts of the economy that are good. That is what we have right now. It is not due to any one thing the president did. This is due to all the supply chain disruptions around the globe caused by the pandemic. There is more demand.
It is partly due to the fact that this president, congress, and the president before him made some fiscal policies that gave more stimulus checks and other things. It is also because people have a lot more savings than they did last year. The bank has money. This money is eating away at their pockets. They are eager to spend the money. Even though they want to spend more, even more than pre-pandemic they have been trying to get. However, it is difficult to obtain goods through the supply chain. Inflation is a result of all this. That is what’s happening around the world. It’s not Biden’s fault.Biden is limited in his ability to change the situation. Some things can be changed by Biden. He’s kinda made efforts to get ports operating at longer hours for example. HYou could do more to expedite work permits for illegal immigrants than the administration is doing. All of that will probably not be enough to make a big difference. The only thing we want to see is change. We need to look at the pandemic from a different perspective and normalize supply chains so that people can buy goods anywhere in the world more conveniently, faster, and cheaper.

RACHEL CAPOS-DUFFY: Rising prices have a negative impact on Americans. Some media outlets are downplaying the main concerns of U.S. householders. Yahoo writing well, ‘maybe Christmas shortages are a gift’ to TIME concluding quote ‘how Americans shoppers broke the supply chain’ So are they taking a cue from President Biden and making light of this major issue? Fox Nation contributor Lara Trump will be joining us as we react. Lara, hello! I’m glad you enjoyed a great Thanksgiving. Is this really what it’s all about? I can’t imagine the inflation being this way under Trump and the media saying ‘hey, it’s the shopper’s fault. You are responsible. It’s not the Biden policies.’
LARA TRUMP : Rachel, that’s amazing! All my family, Happy Thanksgiving! Yesterday was a wonderful day in my home. My children likely had way too much sugar. It’s time for you to take action. We got t out away way we’re moving on now. In terms of the coverage given to it by the media, it concerns inflation. It’s really not a great strategy, Rachel, to ridicule the American people who are struggling this holiday season and say ‘well, gosh, this was all your fault’, that’s really the way they want to go with this? We shouldn’t be told to reduce our expectations. They have been reduced so many times. You might not celebrate Christmas in the exact same manner you did last year. Just take it back. Do not buy too many presents and don’t enjoy the celebrations in the exact same way.
This is not what the American people want to hear. Because this happened so easily, we are now frustrated. Americans seem to be a generous people when faced with hardship. When those times are a result of the decisions and policies of President Joe Biden and his party, the Democrat Party, then we’re fed up. It is over. We’re so frustrated. It was directly related to his policies that led us into the current mess as Americans.
Don’t believe for one second that Joe Biden will be called out by the mainstream media. You almost feel like he was flaunting his wealth. You guys know this. I was at the billionaire compound, one of America’s most wealthy zip codes for this year. He’s very comfortable there while American people are struggling. It’s not the same situation for Americans now as it was 10 months before Joe Biden became president. You’ll see this more often, I believe. This is what we know. They coddled and coddled him.
