CNN Fails To Press Radical Manhattan DA On His Worst Soft-on-Crime Plans

CNN has relaunched its website for the second consecutive day.Day of the New let the newly-elected far-left Manhattan DA off the hook regarding his most radical soft-on-crime policies.

The Thursday segment about Alvin Bragg’s policies was the subject of our blog post. On Friday morning, co-host John Berman actually interviewed Bragg. Bragg was interviewed twice, each time focusing on his less controversial policies and burying his more radical ideas.

Berman may have seemed to be playing the tough cop at first. Bragg asked Berman why he would pay for the subway fare, if not going to be charged for failure to do so. Or why he should purchase a banana when he won’t face prosecution for theft.

Bragg responded that rather than being charged, those who commit such crimes should receive “services”, allowing the police focus on more serious offenses.

What Berman didn’t confront Bragg was his really outrageous policies.

  • Do not seek Any Prison time is available for serious crimes such as armed theft.
  • It will also reduce the severity of charges for serious criminal offenses. Many armed robberies, such as those committed by armed criminals, will now be considered mere small larceny.

Berman nearly apologized for raising the banana theft and fareevasion issues with Bragg, but said he didn’t mention them as “because these questions are being asked this morninng, I think,” Berman assured Bragg later that there was more to the story than what is in the headlines.

Berman asked Bragg at the end to reply to John Podhoretz’s column in The New York Post “Alvin Bragg’s psychotic policies are a gift to the GOP,” in which he suggested that the GOP send Bragg “a fruit basket.” Bragg faked ignorance by claiming that he didn’t know what this means.

Bragg’s meaning will be revealed when ads begin to appear in New York City and all over the United States, highlighting the insane soft-on crime policies Bragg and others are advocating.

Note: Bragg did not give a sensible answer to Berman’s query about fare fraud. According to Bragg, people who have an Easy Pass can go through any toll booth and aren’t arrested. They just receive a letter (presumably with a penalty). He stated that fare fraud should be treated the same.

People who have an Easy Pass don’t need to violate the law. They won’t receive a letter if they do not. Toll-stupiders can be identified by a camera that records the license plates of their vehicle. Is it possible to identify turnstile jumpers? Bragg is Bragg suggesting license plates to New York’s straphangers

CNN’s inability to press Left-wing Radical Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg about his most outrageous soft on crime policies was partially sponsored by VRBO (Energizer), Jersey Mike’s and Pfizer.

JOHNBERMAN: Manhattan’s newly appointed district attorney is facing backlash in his first week of service. Alvin Bragg wants to introduce new guidelines that will reduce the number of inmates and allow for less prosecutions of low-level offenses. His staff was told not to pursue marijuana misdemeanors or fare evasion. They also should resist arrest and prosecute prostitution.

Alvin Bragg is the district attorney. We are grateful for your presence. These are the things I would like to know more about. Fare evasion refers to when you do not pay for a ride on the subway. My question is:If you aren’t going to charge fare evasion in court, then why would I need to pay the subway fare?

ALVIN BRAGG : I am elected to provide safety and justice. I have seen all sides of the criminal justice process. It’s not working. I’ll give you one example. Although I do not know whether you are a driver or not, if your Easy Pass is valid and you pay the toll they won’t arrest you. You will be sent a summons. They also send you letters and you will receive a ticket. We need to follow the same procedure for fare fraud.

It is important that we direct our prosecution resources towards the rise in gun violence.

BERMAN: What about stealing a banana in a shop? Why should I buy a banana if you won’t prosecute for stealing it?

BRAGG: Well, look. It’s not my intention to make it personal to you. It is not likely that you have any significant poverty problems. Most of these cases do not stem from someone who wants to get the banana out of the way. These people are driven by addiction and mental-health problems, as well as poverty. We’re going to connect people with the right services. We can bring an end to this. Find the person you need and get it out so that we can concentrate on guns or sexual assaults.

BERMAN: Because these are questions people are asking this morning when they see your headlines here, listen.

It is important to mention at the end that there is also a political aspect to it. In order to hold the position you are in, you must run for office. You can also John Podhoretz on the New York Post Writes, “The Republican Party needs to send Alvin Bragg an assortment of fruit.”You have to say something.

BRAGG: It’s a confusing concept. However, I know for certain that the overwhelming majority in Manhattan voted to elect me as their general election candidate. The plan was detailed, so we have it in place.

BERMAN : It is a pleasure to have you join the conversation. It’s clear that you don’t hesitate to have a discussion. You are very open to the discussion, I believe. You’ll find more than headlines here.
