Claire McCaskill used to be considered moderate once upon a while. She seems to have twisted the wheel to hate people to the right, like so many Democrats. Perhaps it’s being a contributor on MSNBC, that she feels she has to play to their base, who are tend to be the more rabid liberals.
But her comments about red states to MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace were completely unhinged. They were talking about the Supreme Court and McCaskill claimed that “everybody but [John] Roberts is in the tank for the right-wing, extreme views, and I think this vigilantism is going to catch on.”
Huh? Was that called vigilantism, or? Are you referring to the Antifa members setting fires on buildings and attacking cops? After that, she went back to the slide.
Former politician @clairecmc: “Vigilanteism is going to catch on. Red States will soon pass vigilanteism laws regarding immigration. They’ll empower citizens to get out and arrest people who look like they are foreigners. That’s what we’re coming to” pic.twitter.com/PyWgO91SOg

“I’ll tell you what’s going to happen next, Nicolle,” McCaskill said. “These red states are going to do vigilantism laws on immigration, and they’re going to empower citizens to go out and round up people that they think look like foreigners. And that’s what we are coming to in this country. It is incredibly depressing.”
It sounds absurd. There isn’t anything that even suggests any state is thinking of any such thing. It is really troubling that a former senator makes up such things. “That’s what this is coming to.” Please produce receipts.
By the way, what does a “foreigner” look like, Claire? It sounds racist. It’s hard to believe someone could say such things and still get elected. These kinds of thoughts might explain one of the reasons she’s no longer in office and why she lost to Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO). And here’s a thought — how about the Biden Administration start doing their job at the border and stopping the crushing illegal immigration so you don’t have the huge problem?
McCaskill added that they have to amend the Supreme Court because of this crazy conspiracy theory.
Wallace asked whether it was time for Democrats to “rethink their fealty to norms” by packing the Supreme Court with more members and eliminating the filibuster. McCaskill responded affirmatively, saying, “Americans support term limits for everybody, including Supreme Court justices,” while adding, “There’s filibuster that must happen to carve out the ability of the Senate to deal with voting rights.”
So, she makes up some imaginary fear-mongering threat and that’s the justification why they have to violate norms? Americans don’t support packing the Court , and even Joe Biden’s Supreme Court commission said no to that desire.
Now, if MSNBC were a responsible network, they wouldn’t have on someone that would spread such nonsense. But they’re MSNBC, so we know that sanity and ethics are in short supply there.
