Cindy McCain Completes Her Grift – Opinion

You’ll likely recall the late John McCain’s wife, Cindy McCain, as a very outspoken individual during Donald Trump’s presidency. She was, for example. took a special interest in Syria and the plight of refugees there along with generally criticizing the former president’s foreign policy moves. She would later endorse Joe Biden, using principle and false stories from The Atlantic to support her decision.

Following Biden’s inauguration, in what I’m assured was a total coincidence, McCain was then offered an ambassadorship at the United Nations. While the give-and-take already smelled of political payoffs, what followed the nomination was the real catalyst for the discord.

Disaster struck when Biden, in a reckless and unplanned move, pulled out of Afghanistan. One suicide bomber also killed thirteen American servicemen and injured hundreds of Afghan civilians. We discovered that the Taliban had released the bomber from Bagram Air Base. Biden apparently abandoned the base before we could complete the evacuation.

The situation continued to deteriorate after this event. The few rights that women had were taken away. American allies were killed and hunted. Terrorist government ruthlessly formed under the Taliban banner. The Biden administration has left hundreds of Americans behind, leaving them behind enemies lines.

What did Cindy McCain think about this, especially after she was so vocal during Trump’s years? It is nothing. In fact, you’d have to go back to May to find any comment on Afghanistan, and that was to express confidence in Biden’s ability to withdrawal properly. It’s strange, isn’t it? It’s almost like her “principles” went out the window in order to protect her position.

It’s done. McCain was confirmed by voice vote to the position she had nominated.

Cindy McCain, the current president’s choice for Cindy McCain in a political post. Any assertions that she’s off-limits for criticism are ludicrous. It was obvious that she didn’t speak out on Afghanistan, despite her previous commentary on the topic. Whether it was wholly selfish or also an attempt to protect Biden himself, I can’t say for sure. However, one cannot pretend to transcend politicization while continuing to accept the presidency’s worst foreign policy failure in 50 years.

Either principles matter or they don’t. When those principles cease to exist when it’s politically convenient, they cease to exist at all.
