Chuck Todd Bemoans Biden Not Connecting Ukraine to ‘Voting Rights’

Sunday Meet the Press on NBC, political director Chuck Todd regretted the fact that during his State of the Union address, President Joe Biden didn’t make the connection between the war in Ukraine and the fight for voting rights in the United States.

Todd complained about Biden’s State of the Union speech being ignored due to the growing conflict in Ukraine. He then turned to Princeton University African American Studies professor Eddie Glaude, to say that he had “joked about bringing it up, it’s almost like no one else is discussing it.” Todd mentioned later that he was shocked that Biden didn’t connect the fight against democracy and freedom overseas with the fight to promote democracy here at home.

Todd attempted to get viewers to believe that “voting rights” and the war in Ukraine were somehow connected. He pointed out today’s anniversary of Bloody Sunday. Vice President Kamala Harris was expected marching in Selma.

Glaude responded that he was “stunned” that Biden didn’t exploit the Russian invasion of Ukraine and all the human suffering there to push the Democrat Party’s voting rights agenda. It was a simple rhetorical maneuver, he said. Let’s defend democracy abroad and secure democracy at home.”

Todd agreed, claiming it was a “politically helpful” message.

Glaude rhetorically asked “What would it take to ensure democracy in the home?” Glaude replied that it was necessary to deal with “what is happening in the country regarding the assault on voter rights.” Glaude continued to complain about the mythical attack on the right of voting and said that the problem must be solved by the “illiberal forces” within the country.

Todd finished the broadcast preaching, “If we are going to be drawn in more,” he said to American citizens.

It’s obvious that the leftist media will not exploit anything between the ABC segment in which the panel attempted to politicize Ukraine’s war and the current segment in which they used the war to force a federal takeover.

IBM, Fischer Investments, Liberty Mutual all made it possible to record this section of Chuck Todd complaining that Biden did not link the conflict in Ukraine to American voting rights. They are linked.

CHUCK TODD (Eddie): I made a joke about raising the State of the Union because it seems like no one else has been talking about it. The President’s State of the Union did not connect the fight against democracy and freedom overseas with the fight to promote democracy here at home. This surprised me. It’s Bloody Sunday today, okay? On Selma, the Vice President’s there, going to march against the bridge. This is the second time John Lewis has not been there. This is strange that John Lewis wasn’t there to lead it. Was it surprising?

EDDIE GAULD: Wow! It was a simple rhetorical maneuver. Let’s defend democracy abroad and secure democracy at home.

TODD: It’s also politically useful. Although I don’t want to sound too smug about this, it works. It’s an easy political message.

GLAUDE : What would it look like to ensure democracy in the home country? It is necessary to answer the question about what’s going on in the country regarding the attack on voting rights. We would have to also address the challenges to voting rights that are being pushed by illiberal forces in our country. It was confusing to me and I believed it was an error.
