During CNN+’s final days, Chris Wallace, a struggling host invited Brian Grazer to join him on his show Monday. Who’s Talking to Chris WallaceAnd he was embarrassed to be asked for a movie containing his interview with Trump. What’s the best part? Grazer seemed very much open to working with him on the “project.”
To tee up his pitch for the movie, Wallace first played a clip of one of Grazer’s own films, Frost/NixonHere, actor Michael Sheen portrays journalist David Frost and Frank Langella plays President Richard Nixon. “Wow. It’s still pretty – still pretty good isn’t it,” Wallace said to butter him up.
With Grazer’s agreement, Wallace jumped right to pressing for a film about himself, even reminding his guest that they’ve talked about it once before. Grazer was stunned that Wallace brought it up in this manner.
WALLACE: Let me now ask you one question. You said that you believed there might be a project at Trump/Wallace when we met up.
GRAZER: Yes. Wow, I didn’t know you’d bring that up. Umm—
“Did you really believe that,”Wallace wants to be able to speak on record.
Grazer confirmed that he “really [did] believe that.” “Your interviews with him were perfect,”Wallace was in awe. “Well, okay. Thank you,” Wallace seemed to blush.
“Because you were able to, without any chip on your shoulder, you were able to talk directly and get direct answers like a little version of that,”Grazer continued to laud Wallace and pointed at the screen while they watched it.
Wallace stated that they shouldn’t be ashamed to start working on the details after their interview.
WALLACE: So, maybe we’ll talk after the—
GRAZER: Yeah.
WALLACE: – The problem with going after it.
Wallace tried to change gears but Grazer intervened to say “Grazer!” “Just to do it live in a stadium would be amazing.” “Yes,” Wallace agreed.
With the death of CNN+ and his career in Limbo, this might answer: what’s going to happen to Chris Wallace?
