CNN pulled the trigger on Chris Cuomo’s firing, which should have happened long before.
But if they thought he was going to go off quietly into the night, they don’t know the entitled people that they spawned on that network. Now comes the fun where Cuomo goes all-in — with nothing to hold him back anymore — on spilling the tea on CNN. He’s already started, as we reported earlier. Chris Cuomo’s side is already saying that CNN head Jeff Zucker was fully aware of the help that Chris gave his brother, the former New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, during his sexual harassment allegations. The two also indicated to Zucker that they may have additional witnesses to what he had been told.
A spokesman for Mr. Cuomo said in a text message on Sunday: “Mr. Cuomo holds the greatest admiration for and respect for Zucker. They were widely known to be extremely close and in regular contact, including about the details of Mr. Cuomo’s support for his brother. There were no secrets about this, as other individuals besides Mr. Cuomo can attest.”
CNN was unimpressed.
CNN said in a written statement it is disappointed with Mr. Cuomo’s characterization of events. “He has made a number of accusations that are patently false,” the network said. “This reinforces why he was terminated for violating our standards and practices, as well as his lack of candor.”
But the bottom line is in the battle of who’s telling the truth here — CNN knew there was a conflict but right from the beginning, they didn’t care about that conflict because it got them ratings and they could use it to promote the Democratic agenda and/or attack President Donald Trump. In May, they knew Chris Cuomo had been involved in the advice of his brother. They didn’t care enough to do anything about it. So they don’t have a leg to stand on when they’re just now suggesting that Cuomo played them false. They played all their viewers — all 14 of them — false with their approach.
Cuomo has also hired legal counsel and is now preparing to sue for $18-20million remaining in his contract. It’s hard to believe that they paid this character $6 million per year.
But CNN has “no intention of paying [Chris] Cuomo a penny,” an insider said.
“If he gets a settlement, there would be uproar,” the source added.
Another source said, “CNN has a standard morality clause in their contract that says if the employee does anything of disrepute, they can be immediately fired.”
Now, they may be able to get out of paying him the rest of the contract with that morality clause, depending on what it says, given Cuomo allegedly trying to dig up things on his brother’s accusers and/or the sexual harassment allegations against him. But in the meantime, it’s going to be lots of fun as Cuomo is likely to go scorched earth on them with what he knows so that he can get his money and you have to bet he knows where the bodies are buried when it comes to CNN. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving network with the slimy way they have approached everything. It promises to be delicious, so grab your popcorn.
