Chicago Public Schools Open All Restrooms to Both Sexes, and Disconcerting Questions Come to Mind – Opinion

Chicago Public Schools now allows all students to access the bathroom that is most convenient for them.

Top Title IX Officers Camie Pratt, Deb Spraggins and others announce the new news in a posted video:

“The new school year is off to a strong start as we’ve welcomed our students back to our school buildings five days each week. On top of ensuring that each of our schools is a safe learning environment, we’re also taking steps to create more inclusive and supportive schools. This school year, one change will take place in the school’s bathrooms. CPS employees and students alike will have equal access to bathrooms in line with gender identity, as per federal guidelines. All schools will receive updated signage to make our bathrooms more accessible. This signage will show the location of each toilet and indicate that they are accessible to all. … This is an incredibly important step to increase gender equity for all, which is why we will be requiring all schools to post this signage by December 1st of this school year.”

The video wraps by championing “more inclusive, equitable, and safe schools.”

“We look forward to having a safe and successful school year at every school in every neighborhood across Chicago,” Officer Camie says.

The new signs will trumpet “Girls+” and “Boys+” while stating, “All who feel comfortable are welcome to use this restroom.”

Students are welcome to apply. NotIf you wish to share the bathroom with someone of the opposing sex, this will be forcibly done NotThese rooms are comfortable.

But where ideology is concerned, that’s the result of “inclusivity” — you cannot simultaneously side with all people who think and want different things. If you don’t add something, it is impossible to exclude the other.

Questions arise about the policy.

Let’s forget about transgenderism, and people who truly see themselves differently. Why are schools district is so important?SelfWhat are the benefits of such a shift?

Why are the Powers That Be — adults who grew up in a world without the concept of “gender identity” — sweeping the system in such a way?

Why would a group of leaders take an idea that has never existed ’til now and base such broad alteration upon it?

Even if the goal is bathroom-based “gender equity,” in what way is that within education’s purview?

Why are children being directed to find their life-defining “identity”?

Such a switch surely won’t leave the world unchanged.

It seems to be part of an American larger movement.

I believe we are — in many ways — being made weak.

Self “Identity” has never before been the way members of a society were grouped. Men and women ’til now were separated, not according to gender, but sex.

In the past, generally, no one “identified” as a boy. They weren’t “cisgender.” Females didn’t “identify” as girls — not because the concepts of boy and girl didn’t exist, but because the concept of identity didn’t.

People didn’t walk about thinking, “I’m a boy.” Rather, they just walked about.

They were sometimes placed in one of the two categories based on their chromosomes.

It seems to me we’re being sold on emptiness. We’re being pointed toward ideas lacking in weight.

We’re being ordered to put faith in and focus on things with less substance than before.

In truth, there is no value in “pride” or “empowerment” just because you are you; there is no substance to mere “identity.”

These terms are often championed by many who then become averse to any other ideas.

Meanwhile, we’re being directed to hate our neighbors because of their views. We’re told our actual “community” is comprised of strangers with the same skin color or sexual interests.

But that isn’t community. And that “community” will never have your back. They don’t know you, and you doing well can’t improve their own well-being.

People who Could be a support — those on the same street or in the same town — are, according to messages all around, our enemies due to political differences that never before broke America.

As those in leadership sell us on new methods of finding meaning in our lives, it appears to me we’re crumbling in fundamental ways.

Both as individuals and collectively, our endurance has diminished.

Neighborhoods once supported communities; once they were united. Faith in God binds people to purpose and moral uprightness. This worldview was solid rock on which to rest.

Everybody has a God. Many. However, our gods today seem to be less powerful than the gods of years past.

As I posed previously:

[T]he world is swallowing itself whole: We’re being devoured by our own narcissism.

You can see the signs.

Today, we live in an age where selfie sticks are everywhere. Across a global electronic miracle, we post photos of ourselves on pages created by ourselves to showcase…ourselves.

Leadership, to my knowledge, encourages us all to trust in the sinking of sand. Many ways.

In the end, will we be a nation that is weak but “identifies” as strong?

I hope not; because on that day, our identity won’t help us.
