CBS Whines It Was ‘Difficult,’ ‘Tough’ to See Jackson Be ‘Attacked’ by Republicans

Thursday’s CBS Mornings The show descended into an unreal world as Gayle King (co-host) and Democratic Party donor Gayle Kings led the discussion on Republican questions about Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Jackson. “tough” “very painful to watch” As “[i]t felt so personal watching her being really attacked” “needled”In “searing” Fashion is everywhere “something that has nothing to do with the job that she’s going to do.”

King didn’t seem to have any problem with the bigotry and lies directed at Amy Coney Barrett or Brett Kavanaugh, unless she forgot about it.

Co-host Nate Burleson said in the show’s Eye Opener that “tempers flared…over” Here “treatment” while King said leading off their Jackson segment that “[t]ensions and emotions ran high” even though Republicans “did a lot of the talking.”

King exclaimed, “Tossing Nikole Kilillion to the congressional correspondent,” “I watched a lot of the hearings yesterday. It was quite painful to witness. A lot yesterday afternoon.”

Killion concurred and subtly played the race card, calling Wednesday’s proceedings “an emotional and exhaustive hearing with searing attacks on the first Black woman who is likely to be confirmed to the Supreme Court.”

Killion took particular aim on Senator Lindsey Graham (R–SC) and used his questions for the GOP’s frame.

The exchange was punctuated with several contentious exchanges, beginning with Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. She questioned the Judge about everything…from whether she saw Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s hearings…to her incessant questioning regarding her sentencing records in child exploitation cases.

Killion intervened to stop him during one break for griping: “To people who felt your line of questioning was inappropriate, you say what?”

“That she would not answer my question,” he replied, to which Killion said in returning to voice-overs that “[i]t was a refrain echoed by other committee Republicans relitigating the same claims.”

Killion claimed that this was fluff. “Jackson welled up on her final day of questioning” Senators Mazie Hiirono (D–HI) and Ben Sasse, (R-NE), gave scoldings to Republicans.

The CBS reporter closed by doing Senator Cory Booker’s (D-NJ) bidding by cheering his “closing argument” that wAs, in actuality, an embarrassing display of tears amid a political speech.

Both Burleson and King described Booker’s “words” as “powerful” and the former expounded on her statements about the hearing being “tough” to see in truly throw-the-remote-at-the-TV fashion:

Yesterday was hard to see, no matter how much you love her. I felt very personal seeing her be attacked over something unrelated to the job she is going to do. This is what got me. Lindsey Graham — many of these people have voted for her several times. The way she was treated is now very troubling.

Burleson was also in agreement: “Yeah. I think the word attack is a fitting word here.”

Life News, our friends wrote on Twitter, Jackson’s questions (which focused on judicial issues) weren’t “as painful as being sexually abused and seeing your abuser back on the streets.”

DURBIN: Would you just —

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: SCOTUS Confirmation Gets Heated; Republicans Press Supreme Court Nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson]

GAYLE KING: The Supreme Court confirmation hearing for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson will conclude later today. Jackson had to answer some of the most challenging questions from Republican senators yesterday, causing tension and emotion. [sic] — senators, rather who did a lot of the talking.

SENATOR JOHN HAWLEY (R–MO): You’re not going answer my question.

KETANJI BROWN JACKSON: No, I’ve answered your question, and my I answer is —

HAWLEY

SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM (R-SC): Good, good —

JACKSON: I understand, Senator, but —

GRAHAM: Good. You are welcome.

JACKSON: — what I’m trying to do —

GRAHAM: Good.

DURBIN – Please let her finish.

JACKSON: In that chart —

CRUZ – Judge, it was you who said that previously. These are eight to nine cases of child porn. I will say, to correct the record, I’ll talk about —

DURBIN: I’ll just say to the Judge, there’s no point in responding. He will interrupt your conversation.

JACKSON – Thank you.

KING: Nikole Kilillion is at the Capitol Hill hearing room. Nikole, I saw a lot yesterday of hearings. It was quite painful. Yesterday afternoon, it was a lot. Were you able to tell us more about the plans for tomorrow’s final day?

NIKOLE KILLION : The plan today is for Judge Jackson not to sit in the hot seat, as a panel o experts will be testifying after an emotionally and thorough hearing. There were also intense attacks against the first Black female Supreme Court nominee.

JACKSON: I love this country — [PAUSE] — because I love the law —

KILLION – Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Jones Jackson sat up well on her last day of questioning.

CRUZ: A witness was not allowed to answer questions by the chairman. [GAVEL BANGS]It can be banged as loud or softly as you like

KILLION: It was punctuated by several contentious exchanges beginning with South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham, who needled the Judge over everything from whether she watched Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s hearings —

GRAHAM was ambushed. What would you think if that happened to you?

KILLION: — to relentless questioning over her sentencing record in child exploitation cases.

JACKSON: These defendants —

GRAHAM: Wait, Judge. It seems like a greater deterrent for someone on a laptop looking at child sexual images in the most disgusting ways than to put them in jail.

JACKSON: No, senator. JACKSON: No, senator.

GRAHAM: This is exactly what I said.

SENATOR PATRICK LEEHY (D–VT): I found it outrageous to see this woman being pressed for testimony.

KILLION [TO GRAHAM]You can say this to people who feel your questioning is inappropriate.

GRAHAM: I was not able to get an answer from her.

KILLION: This was the refrain that other Republicans on committees echoed when they disputed similar claims.

HAWLEY

JACKSON – I have explained the principles. [JUMP CUT]This guideline is being applied by judges across the country. [JUMP CUT]Do you have any other questions?

HAWLEY : Yes, that’s right. Yes.

KILLION – Senators from both parties tried to reduce the dial.

SENATOR MAZIE HIRONO, D-HI: Let me try to spread some Aloha in this room.

SENATOR BEN SASSE (R–NE): It is not hard to see that some of the jackassery we witness comes from people trying to smuggle for quick-term photo opportunities.

KILLION: However, it was Cory Booker from New Jersey who made this final argument.

SENATOR CORYBOOKER (D-NJ),: But you didn’t make it because of a left-wing agenda. [CUT — NO SCREEN WIPE]It’s what every American black woman who has made it to the top is doing. This spot is for you. You are indeed worthy. You’re a great American.

KILLION : Other important issues were also raised. If she’s confirmed, Judge Jackson stated that she will withdraw from a Supreme Court case in which her alma mater Harvard is involved. On April 4, the nomination will be up for vote by the committee. Nate?

BURLESON, Nikole. It is important to note that Senator Cory Booker’s words were very powerful.

KING: That was quite powerful. It was hard to see, even though you may feel strongly about her. I felt very personal seeing her be attacked over something unrelated to the job she is going to do. This is what got me. Lindsey Graham — many of these people have voted for her several times. The way she was treated is now very troubling.

BURLESON: Yeah. It seems that attack would be a good word.

KING: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
