According to CBS Evening News, on Thanksgiving Eve, the hottest item you absolutely needed to celebrate the holiday with your friends and family wasn’t just the turkey you paid inflation on, but you needed to have rapid Covid tests as well!
“And as Americans prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, health officials are urging people to take precautions,” announced fill-in anchor Margaret Brennan. And correspondent Nikki Battiste backed her up by declaring, “The hunt is not limited to Turkeys Americans. Rapid Covid testing is also in high demand.”
Battiste then boasted that “Over-the-counter rapid tests give results in 15-30 minutes.”
And despite noting how “Covid cases are rising in 24 states, compared to the prior week, and hospitalizations are up in 22,” she seemed to dismiss worries. “But with nearly two-thirds of eligible Americans fully vaccinated, this Thanksgiving looks better than last year’s. Cases are down 46 percent, and there are fewer hospitalizations and deaths,” Battiste noted.
She also included a soundbite of Dr. Anthony Fauci speaking with Brennan on Sunday’s Face The NationFind out how to test your guests for holiday allergies:
BRENNAN: What about going in to the gathering, and how do you get back? What can people do to help?
FAUCI: Well, it depends. Because of my experience, my daughters have a tendency to be very cautious. That’s why we have to test everything.
Instead of telling people to run out and stock up on Covid tests, ABC’s World News TonightThe same Thanksgiving tips were repeated last year, and they tried to scare everyone away.
“We move now to the pandemic and concern that the holiday could fuel another Covid surge. The CDC now forecasting that hospital admissions and deaths will rise in the next four weeks,” announced fill-in anchor Whit Johnson.
Adding: “Tonight, another poll shows that two-thirds of Americans are planning to celebrate Thanksgiving with people outside their immediate families. Nearly half of these Americans also believe that this will include those who have not been vaccinated..”
However, you can continue to enjoy the rest of your day. NBC Nightly NewsAnchor Lester Holt, and Miguel Almaguer, the national correspondent seemed to be cautiously optimistic regarding people gathering and traveling this year.
HOLT: Miguel, I’m sorry to inform you that a year ago, we were discouraged from attending family events and officials now give the OK. For many, it will be strange.
ALMAGUER : Yes, Lester. But perhaps most notable, six out of 10 adults in the U.S. are now fully vaccinated and booster shots are available to everyone 18 and over who’s been fully inoculated for at least six months. While cases may be increasing, the good news is that there’s protection for those who have been vaccinated.
CBS will soon be offering gift ideas and recommending Covid test stocking stuffers as Christmas draws near. We’ll see.
CBS’s over the top demAnds for Thanksgiving precautions was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Ameriprise and Febreze. You can find their contact information linked to let you know about biased news that they are funding.

NIKKI BATISTE: Not just Turkeys Americans are out hunting for this tonight. Rapid Covid testing is also in high demand.
NISHIEL PATAL (New York City resident). We were all coming from different parts of the country so this was an opportunity to protect each other.
BATTISTE. Over-the counter rapid tests can give you results in as little as 15-30 seconds. In 24 states, covid cases have increased by 25% compared with the previous week. Hospitalizations in 22 are on the rise. This year’s Thanksgiving seems better because nearly three-quarters of all eligible Americans are fully vaccinated. The number of cases is down by 46 percent and the deaths and hospitalizations have decreased.
The CDC advises against traveling until you are fully vaccinated. Masks can also be used indoors, in areas with high rates of transmission. This is the case for most of the country.
Dr. Anthony Fauci believes that vaccines are essential for holiday safety.
Dr. Anthony Fauci: When you surround yourself with people who are vaccinated, your immune system is boosted.
BRENNAN: What about going to the gathering? And how do you get back home afterward? What can people do to help?
FAUCI: Well, it depends. Because of my experience, my daughters have a tendency to be very cautious. That’s why we have to test everything.
