Friday is PBS NewsHour,They lamented Virginia’s tight race for the governorship in their weekly roundup. Washington Post Jonathan Capehart (MSNBC host and columnist) said “white grievance” is to be blamed and “whiteness, a terrible drug.”
Anchor Amna Nawaz sounded like AP, that “Democrats haven’t a lost statewide race since 2009 in the commonwealth. “Why is it so close?” The soundbite she gave of Barack Obama praising Terry McAuliffe was a play, but it left out his comment that the concerns about two separate sexual assaults committed by a teen boy at northern Virginia high school were a fake outrage and a “trumped up culture war.”
Nawaz then went after the Republican: “Glenn Youngkin, meanwhile, has been campaigning with officials who’ve repeated the lie of mass election fraud.” How could that be? The only guest Youngkin’s campaign has touted in the last week is country singer John Rich, who sang for the candidate in Blacksburg.
The unproven claim that “He has been using parental anger over Critical Race Theory” was also made by her Not being taught in schools” She didn’t mention the Youngkin campaign having a call for the press of black leaders who are upset over McAuliffe’s criticism of parents, or Youngkin’s campaign touting how black former Governor Doug Wilder praised his commitment to funding historically black colleges. However, this was nothing in comparison to NewsHourJonathan Capehart is a panelist and shares his view on what will happen if Democrats lose.
CAPEHART It’s the fact that we are having this conversation about Critical Race Theory, that makes it so important. It was not taught at Virginia’s public schools. This just shows how Republicans decided to pick on white grievance and tap-dancing in white supremacy as a way to get back in power.
Glenn Youngkin will win, yes. Fear works. Democrats need to be scared Whiteness, as I love to call it, is an awful drug.It will be interesting to see how it performs in the next midterm election.
He was at least a fellow panelist. New York TimesDavid Brooks, columnist, stated that there had been sexual assault. There’s a case of — it’s more complicated than Republicans are making it out to seem, but sexual assault in a girl’s bathroom with a fluid-gender guy as the — as the alleged perpetrator. This has suddenly become a huge thing.
According to him, the real question is “Are schools imposing values on us that we disagree with and forcing them onto our children?” This has caused a lot anger. That’s what I believe has taken people by surprise over the past week. It’s a little bit of mystery to me how Democrats allowed themselves to get on the wrong side in this issue. No surprise, people hold very different opinions on all aspects of gender.
