Canadian Officials Land Another Blow Against the Freedom Convoy Truckers – Opinion

The Freedom Convoy keeps making news. Canadian truckers, farmers, and other protesters have spent the last several weeks pushing back on their government’s draconian COVID-19 mandates, earning scorn from the mainstream media and praise from those who abhor overbearing officials.

Funding has been a problem as the protests have grown in size. Millions of dollars from all over the globe have been pouring in to support a large protest. To stop the demonstrations, roadblocks were put up repeatedly. GoFundMe (leftwing crowdfunding site) stopped truckers from receiving donations, angering those who pointed out that they previously permitted Black Lives Matter to raise funds at their will, even as there were riots. After GoFundMe had initially indicated they would redirect the funds, it was eventually refunded.

To organize, the donors began to use GiveSendGo. However, Canada’s government won another battle, getting a judge in favor of an order prohibiting further donations.

Arguments are being made here that Freedom Convoy participants are engaging in acts of civil resistance and therefore anyone who provides them with fuel or food aids and facilitates criminal activity. In short, supporting a protest is now illegal in Canada — as long as the government doesn’t approve of the message.

Regardless, let’s call this what it really is: Pure cowardice on the part of the government.

The fascist Ottawa Police and its overlords at the Canadian government would be foolish to pretend they are tough guys. They should get a spine and take out the truckers. Let’s clear those roads, if it is really about roadblockage. These weak, petty tyrants prefer to nibble away at the edges to win without having to do the hard work and take the risks. Ontario officials are well aware that any show of force could backfire on them so you will instead get absurd orders criminalizing donations. As if Canada was a two-bit third-world dictatorship.

What do you think? You know what? Many of the Western governments who have for too long praised themselves as being respecters of individual freedom and rights, now realize that this mask is no longer necessary. Clearly, Canada couldn’t care less about preserving basic freedoms, whether we are talking about COVID mandates, vaccine passports, or the protests against those things.

Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister, and his associates have awakened a giant, regardless of whether or not they know it. No amount of ridiculous gaslighting about “insurrection” and “terrorism” will change the movement that has started. They will always find ways to speak out regardless of online fundraising.
