Buffalo Shooter Was Reportedly Put Under Mental Health Evaluation After General Threat In 2021 – Opinion

Like many other shooters, the Buffalo gunman has been the topic of much conversation, but it is not the most talked about.

Hidden beneath the rants and slogans of the shooter lies the true issue: mental health. Anyone who walks into an area and begins shooting innocent civilians is already telling. But, we also have testimony from those who were close to the shooter in Buffalo. RedState has previously reported that his classmates noticed bizarre behaviors, from wearing strange clothes to spewing extremist languages.

As it turns out, Fox News reported that the same shooter (whose name I won’t repeat here) had undergone a mental health evaluation for more than a day after he had made general threats to the community in 2021:

A spokesperson for the New York State Police said troopers responded to Susquehanna High School in Conklin, N.Y., “to investigate a report that a 17-year-old student had made a threatening statement.” The spokesperson did not identify the subject by name, but said there was no target associated with the threat.

“The state police responded,” Gramaglia said during Sunday’s press conference. “They investigated. After interviewing the subject, they decided it was appropriate to send him for a mental assessment. State police did their job to the fullest that they could at that time.”

Gramaglia later added: “He was evaluated, and then he was released. As far as when we say ‘On the radar,’ there was nothing picked up on the state police intelligence, nothing that was picked up on the FBI intelligence. No one called. Nobody called any complaints.”

That means the shooter was actually taken into police custody because of his conduct at one stage, then evaluated and finally released.

It is clear that the shooter was already on the radar in advance of the shooting. However, nothing seemed to be done.

Mass shooters have repeated this story over and again. Nearly every story has a mental illness at its core. This problem was well-known, but it is not being addressed. This was the case.

Many different perspectives have taken place. While some people want to discuss ideology and others want to speak about gun control issues, few address the issue of mental illness.

Similar to the Parkland gunman.
