Appearing on Fox Business Network’s Varney & Company Monday morning, Media Research Center President Brent Bozell slammed President Biden for his “blatantly dishonest” campaign promise to “shutdown COVID.” He remarked that the President’s upcoming press conference standing alongside Vice President Kamala Harris and Dr. Antony Fauci would resemble “the three stooges.”
“Do you remember when President Biden repeatedly promised to shutdown COVID?,” host Stuart Varney asked at the top of the segment. That was followed by several clips of Biden on the 2020 campaign trail telling crowds: “I’m going to shutdown the virus!” Given a new variant of the disease, Varney wondered: “Does Omicron pose a threat for the Democrats in the 2022 elections?”
Bozell saw major political trouble for Democrats: “Well, I think everything that’s going on right now poses a threat to them, because this administration doesn’t know what it’s doing, it’s being blatantly dishonest.” He noted that Biden was “the same guy who said that a $3.5 trillion bill didn’t cost anything” and that leftist politicians were “capable of saying anything that they believe will get them elected.”
After predicting that “Joe Biden is not going to stop” the pandemic through political rhetoric, Bozell referred to the upcoming White House presser on the topic: “This idea of this press conference coming up, by the way, Stuart, I just had a visual of him in the middle and Fauci on one side and Harris on the other and you got the three stooges.”
The biggest concern the left-wing media have had so far with regard to the Omicron variant has been how it will threaten Biden’s radical agenda.
Varney observed: “Is the White House feeling the effects of COVID fatigue?…No mood at all for new mandates or new restrictions. I think the White House knows that and I think they’re going to be very reluctant to impose any new restrictions on us.”
Bozell answered in part
The idea that the President is going to do something or the idea that this – all these mandates aren’t causing harm is pure poppycock. The reason he is saying that he’s not going to have anymore – he’s not going to do any kind of mandate, given this new variant, is because he knows mandates just don’t work.
The segment concluded with Varney discussing Bozell’s new memoir: “I’ve just got a few seconds to talk about your book and I want to get it in. It’s coming out on December 7, that’s an auspicious day if ever I heard one. It’s called There are stops along the way: A Catholic soul, a conservative heart, an Irish temper and a love of life.”
Bozell showed what the readers might expect.
It’s a completely different book. It’s a book about stories, they’re all true stories, such as a story about a man whose most responsible for the economic – the Reagan economic recovery program and 99% of your audience has never heard of him…A whole series of stories, it’s perfect Christmas reading.

STUART VARNAY: Are you aware of the repeated promises President Biden made to close COVID? Roll tape.
JOE BIDDEN [OCTOBER 29, 2020]: I’m not going to shutdown the economy! I’m not going to shutdown the country! I’m going to shutdown the virus!
BIDEN [OCTOBER 30, 2020]: I’ve said before, I’m not going to shutdown the economy.
BIDEN [NOVEMBER 16, 2020]We can rebuild better after we have stopped the virus from spreading and given economic relief to businesses and workers.
VARNEY – Well, look at who’s here, Brent Bozell. Do Omicron poses a threat to Democrats for 2022 elections in Washington?
BRENT BOZELL: Well, I think everything that’s going on right now poses a threat to them, because this administration doesn’t know what it’s doing, it’s being blatantly dishonest. Look, this is the same man who – you just rolled the tape where he promises to end the pandemic. You know, he’s the same guy who said that a $3.5 trillion bill didn’t cost anything. They can say whatever they think will win them the election.
This pandemic is not going away, and it will continue to evolve. It is something that we will all be able to see for the rest our lives. Joe Biden won’t stop it.
The idea of a press conference is coming up. Stuart, I had an image of Stuart in the middle, Fauci on one end, and Harris the other. You get the three stooges.
VARNEY: That’s a terrible thing to say there, but interesting. Are the White House suffering from COVID fatigue, or is it just me? That is what I meant when I said that I observed people acting very normal while out on Thanksgiving. Large groups of people shopping, eating dinner, et cetera, et cetera. New mandates and restrictions are not in the public’s best interest. I think the White House knows that and I think they’re going to be very reluctant to impose any new restrictions on us. Are you ready to share your thoughts?
BOZELL – You’re right, there were 26 of us at my Thanksgiving party. Three people told me this week how they walked through airports wearing no masks and didn’t care if anyone was watching. The idea that the President is going to do something or the idea that this – all these mandates aren’t causing harm is pure poppycock. The reason he is saying that he’s not going to have anymore – he’s not going to do any kind of mandate, given this new variant, is because he knows mandates just don’t work. They finally know.
VARNEY: I’ve just got a few seconds to talk about your book and I want to get it in. It’s coming out on December 7, that’s an auspicious day if ever I heard one. It’s called Stops Along The Way; A Catholic Soul, A Conservative Heart, An Irish Temper and A Love of Life. Is there anything else you’d like to tell me about it?
BOZELL: Well, you know, it’s gonna be – it’s a completely different book, and here it is, BozellBook.com. It’s a completely different book. It’s a book about stories, they’re all true, stories such as a story about a man whose most responsible for the economic – the Reagan economic recovery program and 99% of your audience has never heard of him.
VARNEY: It’s who?
BOZELL: Stories like – you gotta buy the book. I’ll tell you, John Terry Dolan of the National Conservative Political Action Committee. The story of this man’s life.
VARNEY: Okay.
BOZELL: A whole series of stories, it’s perfect Christmas reading.
VARNEY: Okay, send me a free copy and I’ll figure it out.
BOZELL: I know you will.
VARNEY: I’m joking. Brent, you’re alright, thanks for joining us, fella. We are glad to have you as a guest.
BOZELL: Thanks, Stuart.
