Black People Can’t Stand AOC – Opinion

It looks like not everyone is as enamored with everyone’s favorite socialist celebrity. Recent surveys revealed that not all black Americans love Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D.NY). This fact is well-known to political experts, however it’s a known fact that the progressive group would prefer not to be seen.

Echelon Insights has released the poll results. Respondents were asked a number of policy and demographic questions in order to determine what a top congressional candidate for both sides would look like. Participants were asked to choose between a presidential candidate supported by President Joe Biden and one that was not. Biden’s support received 14% more votes than the rest. Candidate who were AOC-endorsed received 12 per cent less support than the rest.

For the Democratic Party’s progressive wing, this is an alarming stat. This is even more concerning when you reduce the results to race. Biden supported college-educated whites 4 percent more than other candidates. Candidates supported by AOC however, were preferred by this group by 10% less than others.

A nod from Biden was 25 percent more helpful for black Democrats than a vote. AOC supporters received 25% less support than those not supporting them.

These results, as stated before should not surprise. Black Americans do not tend to be left-leaning socialists. It is therefore understandable that people such as AOC would turn them off. A Pew Research poll conducted in 2020 revealed that 81 percent of black Americans identify as “moderate” or “conservative.” While about 90 percent of blacks support Democratic candidates, they do not support radical Marxist types.

It is quite embarrassing for progressives, who claim to be more concerned with the needs of black people than others. This is the group that loudly supports far-leftist groups such as the Black Lives Matter international organization. These are the people who wear white caps and use social media to show how much they care about all persons of color.

Nevertheless, black folks just aren’t buying what they’re selling. The mayor’s race in New York City is proof positive that when presented with a moderate candidate like Mayor Eric Adams – who used to be a Republican – seeking to address issues like high crime rates, they will kick a progressive candidate down the stairs to support that person.

A large proportion of the black electorate will not vote for far-left candidates. Conservative candidates are limited to moderates for competition. If they want to start making inroads among black voters, they have a uphill battle – but it’s a battle that can be won as long as the GOP is willing to play the long game.
